520 |a Background: Fracture of the femoral intercondylarcomminutive type displaced is the loss continuity of intercondylar femur bone with the conditions of the fault line more than one but the bones still connected with shifting fault condition. Intercondylar femur bone is a deep indentation that is located between the rear surface epicondyluslateral and medial femur. One of medical treatment of this fracture is internal fixation fixing operation in the form of plate and screw. The problem that arises is tenderness and pain of motion of knee, hamstring and quadriceps muscle spasm, decreased muscle strength of knee joint, motion limitation of knee joint and a decrease in functional ability. Objective: To determine the benefits of using Infrared Rays and exercise therapy in reducing pain, improving muscle strength, increasing the range of joint motion and improve functional ability of knee joint. Results: After 6 times of treatment the therapeutic result for tenderness is T1: 4.6 to T6 : 2.4, painful motion T1 : 6.8 into T6: 4, increased range of motion of knee joint, active movement T1 : S ( 15o-65o) into T6 : S (5o-75o), but it does not have an increasingly in muscle strength for knee muscle group T1 : 2, T6: 2. Conclusion:The application of Infrared Rays and exercise therapy can reduce pain of knee, increasing the range of motion of knee joint, improve functional ability, but there is no improvement in muscle strength of knee joint.
