Description
Summary:Background: Osteoarthritis Genu is a joint disease characterized by progressive destruction of joint cartilage and causes changes in the structures around the joint. The changes that occur include fluid accumulation, excess bone growth, weakness of muscles and tendons, thus restricting movement, causing pain and swelling. In such cases can be dealt with physiotherapy modalities. Physiotherapy in these cases can reduce pain, increase range of motion, increase muscle strength and improve functional ability by using modalities Infra Red, Transcutaneus Electrical Nerve Stimulation and Therapeutic Exercises. Aims: To investigate the implementation of physiotherapy in reducing pain, increasing range of motion, increasing muscle strength and improving functional ability by using modalities Infra Red, Transcutaneus Electrical Nerve Stimulation and Therapeutic Exercise in Osteoarthritis Genu Bilateral cases. Result: After treatment for 6 times the result shows reduction in silent pain dextral T1: 2.2 to T6: 0, tenderness dextral T1: 3 to T6: 1, motion pain dextral T1: 5.4 to T6: 3, silent pain sinistral T1: 2 to T6: 0, tenderness sinistral T1: 2.6 to T6: 0.8, motion pain sinistral T1: 4.4 to T6: 2.9, enhancement in range of motion knee dextral T1: S = 0 ° - 0° - 110° to T6: S = 0 ° - 0 ° - 115°, knee sinistral T1: S = 0 ° - 0 ° - 120° to T6: S = 0 ° - 0 ° - 126°, enhancement in flexor muscle strength knee dextral T1: 4 to T6: 5, extensor knee dextral T1: 4 to T6: 5, flexor knee sinistral T1: 4 to T6: 5, extensor knee sinistral T1: 4 to T6: 5, enhancement in functional abilities knee T1: 23 into T6: 20. Conclusion: Infra Red (IR), Transcutaneus Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS) and Therapeutic Exercise can reduce pain, increase range of motion, increase muscle strength and improve functional abilities to Osteoarthritis Genu Bilateral conditions. Keyword: Osteoarthritis Genu, Infra Red (IR), Transcutaneus Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS) and Therapeutic Exercise.
