The research has been done in SMPN 1 Cepogo Boyolali regency which is located 11 km radius from merapi mountain. The research method which is use in this research is the real of experimental design with kind of group control design pretest-postest. The sample for riset classes is all students in SMPN 1 Cepogo, classes are VII A, VII B, VII C, VII E, VII F, and VII G with each class consist of 32 students. The learning in class are using Sort Card strategy. The differences are from the book which is used. Class VII E, VII F, and VII G is use the lesson of disaster' book: the explosion of mountain, while class VII A, VII B, and VII C is use IPS BSE. The interpretation of the data is use Pre Test and Post Test question which is given for both of the class. The technique of data analysis which is use is Paired Samples t-Test to understand whether there is the differences or not. The result of data calculation is showed that the increasing of the student study result. The class VII E, VII F, and VII G has increased their result as much as 9.94%, from 78.91 to 88.,85. The class VII A, VII B, and VII C has increased 2,97%, from 82,81 to 85,78. So, we can conclude that the lesson of disaster's book: the explosion of mountain is an effective book to become extra lesson, which is showed by the increasing of the study result.
