520 |a This research aimed. (1) Describe the process of learning to write sentences effectively with problem based learning in class VII E SMP Negeri 1 Kartasura. (2) Increase in sentence writing skills effectively with problem-based learning in class VII E SMP Negeri 1 Kartasura. This research belongs to the Classroom Action Research which is performed in two cycles. The subject of this research were students at class VII E of SMPN 1 Kartasura. The object of this research is the process of learning and writing skills effective sentence. The data which is collected in this research are data skill of writing effective sentences using problem based learning and direct observation of the learning process. The data source of this research were informants, events, and documents. The techniques of data validity are source triangulation, technique triangulation, and review informant. The technique of 2 data analysis are statistic descriptive comparative and critical analysis. Based on the results of the study concluded that learning with problem based learning can improve learning and skills to write effective sentence. The learning process of students in the following study in the first cycle of 40.84% and the second cycle increased to 63.33%, so an increase of 22.49%. Students' skills in writing effective sentences in the first cycle of 63.33% and the second cycle increased to 76.67%, so an increase of 13.34%.
