Summary: | Physic nut plant (Jatropha curcas L.) contain tannins and flavonoids are thought to have an effect as a hemostatic agent. Determine the effect of the latex of Physic nut trunk (Jatropha curcas L.) in external bleeding time and determine the concentration of latex of physic nut trunk that could provide the maximum effect of bleeding time.This study was experimental laboratory methods Post Test Only With Control Group Design. The animals that used were 25 male Swiss Webster mice 2-3 months old, weight 20-30 grams, and were divided into 5 groups: negative control group was given sterile distilled water, positive control group was given epinephrine 1: 1000, the first, second and third treatment group was given latex of physic nut trunk with concentration of 40%, 80%, and 100%. Each group was calculated bleeding time using the Duke method. Data were analyzed with one-way ANOVA test and LSD (Least Significant Difference) test. The latex of physic nut trunk with concentration of 40%, 80%, and 100% can accelerate cessation of bleeding time with mean value of bleeding time in a row was 88,80 seconds, 78,60 seconds and 50,60 seconds. One-way ANOVA test showed that there where significantly difference mean of bleeding time in the fifth after a given treatment group p = 0,000 (p <0,05). The latex of physic nut trunk (Jatropha curcas L.) concentration of 40%, 80%, and 100% can accelerate time to cessation of bleeding time in male Swiss Webster mice. While the concentration of 100% have maximum effect in cessation of bleeding. |
