520 |a Background: Almost all postmenopausal women in general have experienced a variety of complaints as symptoms caused by low estrogen levels such as hot flashes, sweating, vaginal drying, insomnia, and discomfort of up to 85% (Goodman, et. Al., 2011). Insomnia is one of the type of sleep disorder events. It is defined as an experience where the insufficiency or lack of quality sleep, difficulty in initiating sleep or maintaining sleep, and sleep is not restorative or refreshing. As an alternative to reduce the symptoms of depression that causes insomnia, do relaxation techniques such as breathing exercises like Deep Breathing Exercise. Purpose: to know is there any influence of Deep Breathing Exercise against insomnia in menopausal women. Methods: The method used in this study is quasi-experiment, so that not all variables are controlled. The study design used in this research is by using one group pre-test and post-test design. The samples in this study using purposive sampling technique. Data obtained using the Insomnia Severity Index to determine the degree of insomnia before and after treatment in the form of Deep Breathing Exercise for 2 weeks. Statistical testing using a Wilcoxon Rank. Results: Respondents who are menopausal and had insomnia at pretest gained as much as 1 people (7%) experienced mild insomnia, 12 people (80%) had moderate insomnia, and 2 people (13%) experienced severe insomnia. After being treated, it resulted in people with mild insomnia 12 people (80%), insomnia were 3 people (20%), and there is no one experiencing severe insomnia. Data were tested by Wilcoxon Rank and the result is sig 0.002 <0.05 which means that there is any influence between the effects of Deep Breathing Exercise against insomnia in menopausal women. Conclusion: There is something to do with Deep Breathing Exercise against insomnia in menopausal women. Keywords: Deep Breathing Exercise, insomnia, menopause.
