Summary:Candida is an opportunistic oral cavity's microorganism to pathogens.Candida that growths up normally can cause infection on oral cavity, usually called oral candidiasis. Microorganism that become the main cause of candidiasis is candida albicans.The medicine that used to cure oral candidiasis is nystatin.However, many people use herb plant for therapy nowadays.One of herb plant that can be used for oral candidiasis papua ant nest plant (Myrmecodiatuberosa). This plant contains of flavonoid, tannin and polyphenol that can obstruct the growth of candida albicans, therefore the writer will conduct a research by using this plant.The goal of this research is to know the effect of ethanol extract of papua ant nest (Myrmecodiatuberosa) on obstructing the growth of candida albicans and to know the concerntration of papua ant nest plant extract (Myrmecodiatuberosa) that have equal effect (insignificant effect) on nystatin in obstructing the growth of candida albicans. The research methodology that have been done is by measuring the obstructing zone of candida albicans on a petri dish.The petri dish is added by pitted and then added by aquods and ethanol extract ant nest plant with 10%, 20%, 40%, 80% concentration. The measurement is done by using sliding caliper after candida albicans are bred in the petri dish and incubated for 24 hours. The research result is shown ethanol extract of ant nest plant (Myrmecodiatuberosa) with 80% has greatest effect in obstructing the growth of candida albicans, then followed by ethanol extract of ant nest plant (Myrmecodiatuberosa) with 40%, 20%, 10% concentration.
