Summary: | The major problem of this movie is to know how struggle for a better life is reflected in this movie. The objectives of the study are to analyze the structural element of the movie and to analyze struggle for a better life of Solomon Vandy based on the individual psychological approach proposed by Alfred Adler. In conducting this study, the researcher uses qualitative research, in which the primary data is the main data obtained from all the words, dialogue, phrase, and sentences occurring in the movie related to the topic. While secondary data is the other data taken from literary books, criticism, and some articles related to the movie. The study comes to following conclusion. First, based on the structural analysis of each element, it shows that the character and characterization, casting, plot, setting, point of view, theme, mise en scene, cinematography, sound, and editing are interrelated to each other and all elements form solid unity into good quality of a movie. Second, based on the individual psychological analysis shows that the personality development of Solomon Vandy caused by his desire to get a better life for his family. |
