520 | |a This study discusses the English learning process in the classroom by using free writing to improve students' writing skill. The study is also intended to find out the students' responses on free writing activity. The study is conducted based on Classroom Action Research (CAR) which is designed into three cycles. The researcher conducts free writing because it is the way that the students can write everything they want without worrying about grammar rules, so the free writing becomes fun and enjoyable. There is one observer during the study.There are 31 students as participants and the research is conducted in a junior high school in Bandung. The data are collected by conducting observation, grading students' journals and distributing questionnaire. This study shows that the use of free writing activity in teaching writing gives many positive effects in teaching learning process. The positive effects are there is score improvement of students' journals, observation sheets show that students enjoy the free writing and questionnaires show that most students give positive responses on the free writing. | ||
