Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui latar belakang mahasiswa UPI dalam membuat second account Instagram, bentuk dari tindakan self disclosure dalam second account Instagram, penentuan followers pengguna second account Instagram, dan dampak dari tindakan self disclosure. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode fenomenologi. Teknik analisis data penelitian menggunakan interpretative phenomenological analysis (IPA). Informan merupakan mahasiwa aktif Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia. Lokasi penelitian dilakukan di Kota Bandung karena pengguna internet tertinggi di wilayah Provinsi Jawa Barat yaitu terdapat di Kota Bandung dengan persentase mencapai 82,5%. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah observasi, wawancara, dokumentasi, dan studi literatur. Hasil dari penelitian ini menyatakan bahwa mahasiswa Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia lebih leluasa dan nyaman dalam mengunggah postingan yang berisikan tentang pengungkapan diri pada second account Instagram dibandingkan pada first account Instagram. Bentuk pengungkapan diri yang dilakukan termasuk ke dalam 5 aspek self disclosure yaitu Control of depth, Accuracy, Amount of disclosure, Valence, Intent of disclosure, dimana dari hasil yang ditemukan pada saat wawancara bahwasannya bentuk self disclosure yang paling menonjol adalah control of depth dimana para pengguna second account Instagram lebih banyak mengungkapkan diri mereka dengan mengunggah postingan yang dirasa intim dan dinilai pribadi dalam laman akun kedua Instagram mereka. Para pengikut akun mereka merupakan orang yang dekat dan dipercaya salah satu nya peer group yang mereka miliki. Dampak positif yang dirasakan yaitu keleluasaan dalam mengungkapkan diri, serta dampak negatif yang ditimbulkan yaitu oversharing dan terkadang menimbulkan konflik internal. Serta adanya beberapa perbedaan isi konten dan tujuan second account Instagram antara perempuan dan laki-laki. Kata Kunci : Second account Instagram, Self disclosure, Mahasiswa Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia Abstract This study aims to determine the background of UPI students in creating second Instagram accounts, the forms of self-disclosure actions on second Instagram accounts, the determination of followers of second Instagram account users, and the impact of self-disclosure actions. This study uses a qualitative approach with phenomenological methods. for the data analysis technique of this study using interpretative phenomenological analysis (IPA). Informants in this study are active students at the Indonesian University of Education. The location of the research was conducted in the city of Bandung because the highest internet users are in the province of West Java, namely in the city of Bandung with a percentage of 82.5%. Data collection techniques used in this study were observation, interviews, documentation, and literature studies. The results of this study state that Indonesian University of Education students are more flexible and comfortable in uploading posts containing self-disclosure on the second Instagram account compared to the first Instagram account. The form of self-disclosure that is carried out includes 5 aspects of self- disclosure, namely Control of depth, Accuracy, Amount of disclosure, Valence, Intent of disclosure, where from the results found during interviews that the most prominent form of self-disclosure is control of depth where the Instagram second account users express themselves more by uploading posts that they feel are intimate and considered personal on their second Instagram account page. Their account followers are people who are close and trusted by one of the peer groups they have. The positive impact that is felt is the freedom to express oneself, and the negative impact that is caused is oversharing and sometimes causes internal conflict. As well as there are several differences in the content and purpose of second Instagram accounts between women and men.
