Description
Summary:The study investigated the use of Task-Based Language Teaching (TBLT) in improving students' speaking ability, the teacher's problems in teaching speaking by using TBLT, and students' responses toward TBLT. The study employed Classroom Action Research which involved 39 students of SMKN 1 second grade as a subject of the study. The data were obtained from observation, interview, test and questionnaires. The findings showed that the students not only enjoyed the learning process, shown by their enthusiasm in the observation process and their answers to the questionnaires and interview, but also they could finish the task well. Although both the teacher and the students faced some problems, students' responses toward TBLT were good. In conclusion, TBLT helps the students learn English better. Moreover, TBLT can encourage them to start communicating in English by completing the task. The more students practice, the more they will improve their own oral skill.
