When investigators use specific pronouns that show respect and friendliness through police investigations, there might be flexibility in response from witnesses. In addition, the pronoun change used in the police investigation can cause a different reaction from witnesses and suspects. Therefore, this research aims to describe pronoun-changing strategies to elicit answers from witnesses in the police investigation, which could affect the information obtained. The data were eight transcriptions of simulated police investigations on a domestic violence case. The data analysis in this research uses Halliday's (2014) SFL mood analysis with one of the components of the mood system, namely the subject. The choice of subjects used in the transcripts by the investigator as a form of pronoun change was carefully identified to find out the pronouns used to open the interview, in the middle of the interview, and at the end. The results show that using pronouns-changes as a strategy in questions asked by investigators during interviews tends to influence the answers given by witnesses and suspects. However, other factors can affect a witness's response, like age and gender. Changing pronouns can significantly impact the completeness and accuracy of information obtained. In securing justice through police investigation, this research contributes to selecting the pronoun used, which can be a police investigation strategy to get the required information from the witness and suspect.
