This study aimed to examine the implementation of extensive reading and in what ways extensive reading affects students' reading comprehension. This study used a qualitative method with a case study design to investigate the issues. The data from this study were analyzed using triangulation techniques. Cresswell (2012) indicates that triangulation combines "the strength of one strategy and counteracts the shortcoming of the other." As a result, three instruments were used in this study to collect the data: classroom observation, questionnaire, and interview. A class of seventh graders from one of Bandung's public junior high schools took part in this study. The results of this study found four influential ways of extensive reading in helping students improve their reading comprehension; 1) comprehend the structures in English, 2) increase vocabulary, 3) help in drawing conclusions from the text, and 4) increase reading motivation.
