Summary: | This study regarded from the observation of researchers that learning science in school to learn how to use more rigid learning methods like copying the subject matter from the book and doing excercise. Less activity of teachers in the learning process and students who are very passive makes the students do not have the opportunity to develop their critical thinking skills. The lack of critical thinking skills of students has resulted in a lack of achievement values student achievement in science subjects. Based on these problems, the goals of this study is to determine the results of applying the model Predict Observe and Explain an effort to improve students' critical thinking skills in science study of water cycle matter in fifth class. This research is Classroom Action Research use the spiral model of Kemmis and Taggart. Subjects in this study were fifth grade students of SDN Cibogo IV Lembang, Kabupaten Bandung Barat , with 28 students in the second semester. The results of data analysis showed that the application of the model Predict Observe and Explain can improve students' critical thinking skills. It can be seen from the results of the evaluation of students' critical thinking skills by including indicators provide a basic explanation, building basic skills, concluded, providing further explanation, and set strategy tactics that have increased the success of the first cycle in which the average value of 54 and the successful achievement of 32.14 % second cycle with an average value of 70.53 and the successful achievement of 60.71% and the third cycle with an average value of 83.39 and the successful achievement of 100% with an average of 33.73% of the KKM success that has been determined is 65 which means that learning with Predict Observe and Explain model can be applied to improve the critical thinking skills of students on learning science of water cycle matter. |
