Summary:This study was conducted in a forest area of Cisangkuy upstream Sub Basin with the goal of (1) measuring the amount of Population Pressure Index (ITP) around forest areas, (2) describe the socio-economic conditions of communities around forest areas, (3) describe the interaction of communities around forest areas Cisangkuy upstream Sub Basin. This study used a descriptive method of data sources in the form of primary data and secondary data taken by interview, observation, and documentation. Region sampling method is done by non-probability sampling approach with purposive sampling method. While the human sampling method done with non-probability sampling approach with accidental sampling method. Population pressure calculation methods use the Soemarwoto formula (1989) Model II. The results showed that there has been population pressure in the surrounding forest area represented by Warnasari Village, Pulosari Village, and Margamulya village. Socio-economic conditions of communities around the forest showed the tendency of most people rely on farming life, low-income, less educated, do not have agricultural land, and the average number of family dependents of nearly three people. Interaction communities around the forest area is realized in the form of community activities such as illegal logging, yields of forest products such as firewood, grass, and other forest products.
