Dalam upaya untuk meningkatkan keamanan pada rental mobil dibutuhkan sistem keamanan untuk dapat mempermudah bagi pemilik kendaraan untuk memantau dimana posisi mobil rental berada. Pada sistem yang akan dibuat ini akan diterapkan algoritma A* (A Star) untuk pencarian jalur terpendek, dengan mengetahui posisi mobil rental dan rute terpendeknya maka akan mempermudah pemilik mobil rental untuk memantau dan mengantisipasi kemungkinan terburuknya yaitu dari tindak kejahatan pencurian mobil rental. Apabila mobil rental belum dikembalikan dalam kondisi telah melewati batas waktu peminjaman maka sistem akan memberikan notifikasi, saat itulah mobil akan di tracing keberadaannya menggunakan aplikasi yang telah dibangun, Algoritma A* merupakan salah satu dari heuristic search, adalah algoritma untuk mencari estimasi jalur dengan cost terkecil dari node awal ke node berikutnya sampai mencapai node tujuan. Aplikasi tracing mobil rental ini akan dibangun pada perangkat android, dengan menggunakan emulator android sebagai simulasinya. In an effort to improve security in the rental car security system needs to be able to make it easier for owners to monitor the position where rental cars are. On systems that will be made will be applied algorithm A * (A Star) search for the shortest path, by knowing the position of the car rental and the shortest route will facilitate the rental car owners to monitor and anticipate the worst possibilities of a rental car theft crime. If car rental is not returned in the condition of the loan deadline has passed, the system will provide notification, then that car will be in tracing whereabouts using applications that have been built, Algorithm A * is one of the heuristic search, is an algorithm to find the path estimate with the smallest cost from the initial node to the next node until it reaches the destination node. Application tracing rental car will be built on android devices, android emulator using for simulation.
