520 | |a Penelitian ini berlatar belakang terbatasya kemampuan berbahasa dan komunikasi siswa tunarungu di kelas rendah SDLB yang disebabkan oleh minimnya penguasaan kosakata siswa. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode Research and Development (R and D) yang bertujuan untuk menghasilkan sebuah media belajar kosakata khusus anak tunarungu. Hasil studi awal pengembangan software menunjukkan penguasaan kosakata yang masih perlu ditingkatkan terutama adalah penguasaan kosakata secara ekspresif. Penguasaan kosakata reseptif siswa juga perlu ditingkatkan guna memperkaya pembendaharaan kata siswa. Selain mempertimbangkan kebutuhan belajar kosakata untuk siswa di kelas rendah, media juga dirancang agar mudah digunakan oleh anak tunarungu. Rumusan kebutuhan media belajar kosakata dipetakan menjadi rancangan media, yang kemudian dikembangakan melalui siklus proses pembuatan media, ujicoba, dan perbaikan-perbaikan hingga menghasilkan media software Kamus Tematik Bergambar untuk Anak Tunarungu. Hasil Uji efektivitas media secara terbatas terhadap siswa tunarungu di kelompok eksperimen menunjukkan skor perolehan (gain) penguasaan kosakata sebesar 0,79 yang termasuk pada kriteria perolehan tinggi. Software Kamus Tematik Bergambar dapat menciptakan pembelajaran kosakata yang efektif dan efisien dan menyenangkan bagi siswa. Peneliti merekomendasikan penggunaan software Kamus Tematik Bergambar ini kepada guru bagian tunarungu sebagai media belajar kosakata dasar bagi siswa tunarungu di kelas rendah. The background of the stdy was the lack of language and communication skill of deaf student of low classes in the elementary levels of special need school as the result of student's minimum vocabulary competency. The study applied research and development method to produce vocabulary learning media special for deaf student. The need of assessment indicate competencies which is still needed to be developed mostly are the expressive competencies, while the receptive is still needed to be enriched. Beside of considering the need of vocabulary learning, the design of media must also consider the accessibility for the deaf student as the user. The overall development of the media consits of four major steps, which each step involve the cycle process of developing and modification, user trials, and Focus Group Discussion. As the media established, it is named as Thematic Picyorial Dictionary Software for Deaf Children. The effectivity test applied toward students of experimental group, indicate the average gain of vocabulary improvement reach the score of 0,79 which categorize as high achievement. The media, were proven enable to create an effective, efficient, as well as fun vocabulary learning for the student, as the researcher recomends the use of the media Thematic Pictorial Dictionary Software for students and also teachers who would like to develop the students vocabulary competencies.
