520 | |a This research is base on by the number of II grade student at SDN 3 Cibodas that still not be able to read pluently. This research focused on improving beginning reading skill with mind mapping method. The subject of this research is the II grade students at SDN 3 Cibodas which amounts to 36 student. The purpose of this research is to determine the planning, implementation, and student improvement of reading skill. The method that used in this research is Class Action Research, that adopted from Kemmis and Mc. Taggart consisting of 3 cycles.Tecnic for collecting data were gained from the observation sheet's student and teacher, interview, documentation and test. Base on research, beginning reading skill of student's before to carry out the cycles I, II, III skill's of student who can reading pluently or get a good score only 22%, in cycles I become 30%, in cycles II become 38% and in cycles III better than before , it is 52% of student can reading pluently from total amount of student 36 person. That is to showing beginning reading skill of student to realize increase after to use mind mapping method. Reseacher suggestion for reading method it is best using interesting method match with development of student, so the student more interesting to reading Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh banyaknya siswa kelas II di SDN 3 Cibodas yang masih belum dapat membaca dengan lancar. Penelitian ini difokuskan pada peningkatan kemampuan membaca permulaan dengan metode mind mapping. Subyek penelitian adalah siswa kelas II SDN 3 Cibodas Kec. Lembang Kab. Bandung Barat yang berjumlah 36 orang. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui perencanaan, pelaksanaan, dan peningkatan kemampuan membaca permulaan siswa. Metode yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) yang mengadaptasi model Kemmis & Mc. Taggart yang terdiri dari tiga siklus. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui lembar observasi siswa dan guru, lembar wawancara, dan tes kemampuan membaca permulaan. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, kemampuan membaca permulaan siswa pada awal sebelum dilaksanakan siklus I, II, dan III kemampuan siswa yang sudah dapat membaca lancar atau mendapatkan nilai baik hanya sebanyak 22%, silus I menjadi 30% , siklus II menjadi 38% , dan pada siklus III menjadi lebih baik yaitu 52% siswa sudah dapat membaca lancar dari jumlah keseluruhan siswa yaitu 36 orang. Hal ini menunjukan kemampuan membaca permulaan siswa mengalami peningkatan setelah menggunakan metode mind mapping. Peneliti menyarankan untuk pembelajaran membaca sebaiknya menggunakan metode pembelajaran yang menarik dan sesuai dengan perkembangan siswa, agar siswa lebih senang membaca.
