Summary:The research aimed to find the improvement of students' critical thinking skills and concept mastery in subject of hydrocarbon and petroleum developed through an instructional model of 7E Learning Cycle. The method employed in this research was quasi-experimental with a counterbalanced design. The subjects consisted of tenth grade students of the X6 and X7 classes in one of senior secondary schools in Subang Regency. Data were collected by ways of test and observation. The data gathered through tests were than analyzed using the formulation of N-Gains by Hake (1997) and significance test by Friedmen, while the non-test data were analyzed descriptively. Significance test show that there was significant difference in critical thinking skills between the A class and B class with the N-Gains for A class as much as 80,54% (the first topic) treated with 7E learning cycle model and 60,95% (the second topic) with conventional learning, while the N-Gains for B class were 63,95% (the first topic) with conventional learning and 80,05% (the second topic) with 7E learning cycle model, respectively. The research outcomes show the feasibility of 7E learning cycle model in accordance with the designed lesson plans. Furthermore, results of significance test demonstrate that there was significant difference in concept mastery between the A class and B class with N-Gains for class as much as 87,19% (the first topic) treated with 7E learning cycle model and 71,62% (the second topic) with conventional learning, while the N-Gains for B class were 75,31% (the first topic) with conventional learning and 81,29% (the second topic) with 7E learning cycle model, respectively. Based on the data, it can be concluded that 7E learning cycle model could improve students' critical thinking skills and concept mastery in the subjects of hydrocarbon and petroleum. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peningkatan keterampilan berpikir kritis dan penguasaan konsep siswa pada materi hidrokarbon dan minyak bumi yang dikembangkan melalui pembelajaran bermodel Siklus Belajar 7E. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah Quasi Experimental dengan desain Counterbalanced. Subyek penelitian adalah siswa kelas X6 dan X7 salah satu SMA di kabupaten Subang. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui tes, observasi dan wawancara. Hasil pengumpulan data tes selanjutnya dianalisis menggunakan rumus N-Gain dengan rumus Hake (1997) dan uji signifikansi Friedman, sementara data non-tes dianalisis secara deskriptif. Hasil uji signifikansi menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan antara keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa kelas A dan kelas B dengan N-Gain pada kelas A sebesar 80,5% (topik pertama) dengan pembelajaran bermodel siklus belajar 7E dan 61% (topik kedua) dengan pembelajaran konvensional, sedangkan pada kelas B sebesar 64% (topik pertama) dengan pembelajaran konvensional dan 80,1% (topik kedua) dengan pembelajaran bermodel siklus belajar 7E. Hasil penelitian menunjukan keterlaksanaan pembelajaran bermodel siklus belajar 7E sesuai dengan rencana pembelajaran yang telah dirancang. Hasil uji signifikansi menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan antara penguasaan konsep siswa kelas A dan kelas B dengan N-Gain pada kelas A sebesar 87,2% (topik pertama) dengan pembelajaran bermodel siklus belajar 7E dan 71,6% (topik kedua) dengan pembelajaran konvensional, sedangkan pada kelas B sebesar 75,3% (topik pertama) dengan pembelajaran konvensional dan 81,3% (topik kedua) dengan pembelajaran bermodel siklus belajar 7E. Berdasarkan data tersebut dapat disimpulkan bahwa pembelajaran siklus belajar 7E dapat meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir kritis dan penguasaan konsep siswa pada materi hidrokarbon dan minyak bumi.
