Summary:Research drop was triggered the ability to read understanding student who has not attained KKM indonesian language namely 67.Effort to address the problem was to conduct research class action and applying metede sq3r to enhance understanding the literacy students.A goal that was achieved in research is: ( 1 ) expressing the learning method sq3r, by applying ( 2 ) expressing increased capacity reading comprehension after implementing sq3r methods. Desain research used in research class action is adaptation of desainkemmis and mc.Taggart.Research result is obtained the average grade in phase I and the percentage of cycle 74,28 been learning 76 %. on cycle II increased to 87,48 and percentage been learning 96 %.Drawing conclusions of research is namely the learning by applying method sq3r would go well, activity students in learning active and visible aspect literacy understanding students increased on each cycle. Penelitianinidilatarbelakangirendahnyakemampuanmembacapemahamansiswa yang belummencapai KKM Bahasa Indonesia yaitu 67.Upaya yang dilakukanuntukmengatasimasalahtersebutyaitudenganmelakukanpenelitiantindakankelasdanmenerapkanmetedeSQ3Runtukmeningkatkankemampuanmembacapemahamanteksdeskriptif.Tujuan yang hendakdicapaidalampenelitianiniyaitu: (1) mengungkapkanpelaksanaanpembelajaran (2) mengungkapkanpeningkatankemampuanmembacapemahamanteksdeskriptifsetelahmenerapkanmetode SQ3R. Model penelitian yang digunakanyaituadaptasi dari model Kemmis dan Mc. Taggart. Hasil penelitian yang diperoleh yaitu, nilai rata-rata kelas pada siklus I sebesar 74,28 danpersentaseketuntasanbelajar 76%. Pada siklus II meningkat menjadi 87,48 dan persentaseketuntasanbelajar 96%.SimpulandaripenelitianiniyaitupelaksanaanpembelajarandenganmenerapkanmetodeSQ3Rdapatberjalandenganlancar, danaspekkemampuanmembacapemahamansiswamengalamipeningkatanpadasetiapsiklusnya.Berdasarkantemuantersebut, disarankankepadapara guru khususnya guru Bahasa Indonesia agar menggunakanmetodeSQ3Rdalampembelajaran yang dapatmeningkatkankemampuanmembacapemahamanteksdeskriptif.
