Summary:Pentingnya pewarisan budaya lokal di daerah, khususnya mengangkat kesenian madihin sebagai bahan apresiasi budaya bagi peserta didik di tingkat SMP, menjadi inspirasi bagi penelitian yang berjudul "Model Pembelajaran Kesenian Madihin Melalui Pendekatan Inquiry Discovery di SMP Negeri 1 Tembilahan Riau". Madihin adalah kesenian tradisional masyarakat Banjar di Tembilahan, yang unsur utama pergelaranya mengandalkan vokal yang berisi syair atau pantun, diiringi pukulan terbang yang dimainkan sendiri oleh pamadihin. Tujuan penelitian ini mengeksplorasi dan mengimplementasikan desain model pembelajaran, serta mengetahui hasil implementasi desain model pembelajaran kesenian madihin yang berbasis pendekatan inquiry discovery, sehingga dapat tersosialisasikan pada sekolah tingkat SMP di daerah Tembilahan Kabupaten Indragriri Hilir Riau. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode action research dengan pendekatan kualitatif dan bersifat tindakan. Teknik triangulasi digunakan dalam pengumpulan data. Hasil temuan data diperoleh bahwa sintaks pembelajaran kesenian madihin berbasis pendekatan inquiry discovery ini terdiri dari: apresiasi, diskusi, verifikasi, generalisasi dan performance. Hasil menunjukan ada peningkatan kompetensi dalam proses belajar mengajar, dari segi ranah afektif berupa peningkatan motivasi belajar dan apresiasi siswa terhadap kesenian daerah yang ada di lingkungan siswa sendiri, pada ranah psikomotor berupa peningkatan kemampuan siswa dalam berkreasi dan berolah musik, sedangkan pada ranah kognitif berupa adanya peningkatan prestasi belajar, sehingga pembelajaran kesenian madihin mampu menjadi model pembelajaran yang efektif dan menyenangkan bagi siswa di sekolah. Kata kunci: Pendekatan Inquiry Discovery, pembelajaran madihin. ---------- The importance of local cultural inheritance in the region, particularly to elevate of madihin folk art as cultural appreciation material for students in junior high schools, been inspiration for research titled "Madihin Art Learning Model Through Inquiry Discovery Approach in SMP Negeri 1 Tembilahan Riau". Madihin is a traditional art of Banjar society ethnic in Tembilahan, which the main element rely on vocal contains poems or rhymes, accompanied playing percussion (terbang) which is played by pamadihin (madihin player) himself. The purpose of this research is explore and apply design of learning models, and to know the results of application of madihin arts learning model be based inquiry discovery approach, so that it can be implemented for junior high schools in region of Tembilahan Riau. This study used action research with qualitative and actions approach. Triangulation techniques also used in data collection. The findings of data shows that learning syntax of madihin art with inquiry discovery approach consists of: appreciation, discussion, verification, generalization and performance. Results showed there was increase of competence in teaching and learning process, in affective aspect there is increasing learning motivation and students' appreciation for local arts in the environment of students themselves, in psychomotor form is increasing of students ability in creation and exercise music, and in the cognitive form is increasing student achievement, so that learning arts about madihin able to be a model for effective and fun learning for students at school.
