Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh permasalahan yang terjadi pada pembelajaran teks cerita pendek di kelas VII SMP Negeri 7 Bandung, yakni pembelajaran teks cerita pendek yang pasif; berorientasi pada guru serta minimnya aktivitas siswa dalam pembelajaran. Masalah tersebut berdampak pada kemampuan siswa untuk memahami teks cerita pendek. Langkah untuk mengatasinya adalah melakukan penelitian tindakan kelas Model pembelajaran kooperatif menjadi salahsatu pilihan dalam mengatasi masalah pembelajaran teks cerita pendek. Elemen-elemen model pembelajaran koooperatif diharapakan dapat mengubah pembelajaran yang pasif menjadi lebih aktif; pembelajaran yang berorientasi pada guru menjadi berorientasi pada siswa serta pembelajaran menjadi lebih aktif karena lebih banyak melibatkan siswa dalam kelompok belajar di dalam kelas. Penelitian ini menggunakan penelitian tindakan kelas model Kemmis dan McTaggart dengan subjek penelitian yaitu siswa kelas VII-D SMP Negeri 7 Bandung 2014/2015. Instrumen penelitian, antara lain wawancara, observasi aktivitas guru, observasi aktivitas siswa, observasi sikap siswa, catatan lapangan, dan tes kemampuan memahami teks cerita pendek. Data penelitian diolah dengan teknik analisis data, kategorisasi data, dan interpretasi data. Pelaksanaan tindakan dilakukan dalam dua siklus pembelajaran. Pada siklus I, hasil pemahaman teks cerita pendek siswa dalam penerapan model pembelajaran kooperatif jigsaw mendapatkan hasil yang belum memuaskan dengan rata-rata nilai siswa sebesar 2,54 dan persentase ketuntasan sebesar 65%. Pada pembelajaran siklus I ditemukan berbagai kendala yakni, alur kegiatan pembelajaran yang terlalu banyak memakan waktu; kurang aktifnya proses bimbingan kelompok. Kendala tersebut mempengaruhi hasil tes pemahaman teks cerita pendek siswa. Siklus II, pembelajaran teks cerita pendek menggunakan model pembelajaran kooperatif STAD dengan harapan pembelajaran teks cerita pendek dapat lebi baik dari pembelajaran siklus sebelumnya. Pada pembelajaran siklus II, hasil pemahaman teks cerita pendek siswa meningkat dengan nilai rata-rata sebesar 3,27 dan persentase ketuntasan sebesar 85,29%. Pada pembelajaran siklus II, alur kegiatan pembelajaran lebih efektif dan efisien serta siswa dapat memahami materi dengan bimbingan guru yang lebih aktif. Perubahan tindakan pada siklus II memberikan dampak yang signifikan terhadap hasil pembelajaran teks cerita pendek. Perbaikan perencanaan, pelaksanaan, pengamatan dan refleksi pada penerapan model pembelajaran kooperatif di tiap siklus telah dapat memberikan peningkatan pada pemahaman siswa kelas VII SMP Negeri 7 Bandung dalam materi teks cerita pendek. These problems have an impact on students' ability to comprehend text short stories. Steps to resolve it is to do action research model of cooperative learning becomes one of the main options in addressing the problem of learning a short story text. Elements of koooperatif learning model is expected to change passive learning to become more active; learning oriented student teachers become oriented and be more active learning because they involve more students in group learning in the classroom. This study uses a model classroom action research Kemmis and McTaggart with research subjects are students of class VII-D SMP Negeri 7 Bandung 2014/2015. Research instruments, among others, interviews, observation of teacher activity, observation of student activities, student attitudes observation, field notes, and test the ability to understand the short story text. Data were analyzed with the technique of data analysis, categorization of data, and interpretation of data. Implementation of the actions carried out in two cycles of learning. In the first cycle, the results of students' understanding of the short story text in the application of jigsaw cooperative learning model to get the results have not been satisfactory with an average value of 2.54 and the percentage of students by 65% completeness. In the learning cycle I found a variety of constraints that is, the flow of learning activities that take too much time; less active group counseling process. These constraints affect the results of the short story text comprehension tests students. Cycle II, instructional text short story using STAD cooperative learning model in the hope of learning the short story text can grama either of the previous cycle of learning. In the second cycle of learning, the results of the short story text comprehension of students increased by an average value of 3.27 and the percentage of completeness of 85.29%. In the second cycle of learning, the flow of activities more effective and efficient learning and students can understand the material with the guidance of teachers who are more active. Change action in the second cycle provides a significant impact on learning outcomes text short stories. Improved planning, implementation, observation and reflection on the application of cooperative learning in each cycle has been able to provide an increase in the understanding of the seventh grade students of SMP Negeri 7 Bandung in the short story text material.
