Summary: | This research aimed to develop a STEM-based virtual lab as an alternative experiment media to improve scientific literacy of junior high school science students on the theme of water pollution. The development was done by using 4D methods, that is: Define, Design, Develope, and Disseminate. In the Define stage, we analized PISA 2012's problems, basic competence of curriculum 2013 and STEM characteristic. In the next stage (Design) we designed flowcharts, storyboards, and user interface. Develop stage consist of the creation of virtual lab and its validation by 2 media experts, a content expert, and 3 science teachers. Disseminate stage of this study was implementing this virtual lab to two junior high school classes on SMP IT Adzkia Sukabumi, that is Class 7B whose 29 all female students and Class 7D whose 30 all male students. The validation results from media experts, content expert, and science teachers showed that the developed STEM-based virtual labs was proper enough to be used in learning process. This virtual lab got 86.24% in feasibility percentage by media experts, 90.14% by content expert, and 82.71% by science teachers. The result showed that the implementation of the STEM-based virtual lab that have been developed in this study can improve domain scientific literacy of science knowledge (content) and science process (competence domain) with an N-gain 47.53 in all female class (moderate category) and 31.72 in all male class (moderate category). Meanwhile domain science attitude of students had an N-gain 40.83 in all female class (moderate category) and 25.67 in all male class (low category).;Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan virtual lab berbasis STEM sebagai media praktikum alternatif dalam meningkatkan literasi sains siswa SMP pada tema pencemaran air. |
