Summary

Penerimaan dan pengasuhan anak berkebutuhan khusus merupakan satu hal yang tidak bisa dipisahkan dari upaya memberikan pelayanan terhadap mereka. Namun dalam kenyataannya terdapat orangtua yang mempunyai anak berkebutuhan khusus tidak semua bisa menerima kondisi anaknya dengan sepenuhnya. Terjadi penolakan yang berakibat pada kondisi anak semakin terpuruk. Realitas yang sama terjadi di SLB Negeri Metro Lampung, dimana terdapat orangtua yang belum menerima kondisi anaknya, hal ini kemudian berpengaruh pada pengasuhan anak tersebut. Sikap penerimaan yang belum baik dan pengasuhan yang belum optimal bila dibiarkan tentu akan berdampak negatif bagi perkembangan anak berkebutuhan khusus dan tentunya perlu dicarikan solusi pemecahannya. Penelitian ini bertujuan memotret tingkat penerimaan dan pengasuhan orangtua anak berkebutuhan khusus yang bersekolah di SLB Negeri Metro untuk kemudian diberikan program agar penerimaan dan pengasuhannya menjadi lebih baik. Metode dalam penelitian ini adalah deskriptif dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Dalam penelitian ini selanjutnya menemukan dua hal penting yaitu: masih ada orangtua anak berkebutuhan khusus yang bersekolah di SLB Negeri Metro yang belum menerima dengan baik sehingga berpengaruh pada pengasuhannya dan orangtua yang sebenarnya sudah menerima dengan baik namun belum mampu mengasuh dengan baik karena keterbatasan ilmu yang dimilikinya. Dengan mengikuti program pelatihan orangtua anak berkebutuhan khusus diharapkan orangtua bisa memperbaiki sikap penerimaannya dan mempunyai kapabilitas mengasuh anaknya yang berkebutuhan khusus di lingkungan keluarganya. ;---Acceptance and parenting of children with special needs education cannot be exceptionally separated from the efforts to provide services to them. However, there are parents of such children are not able to accept their conditions well. This makes the children's condition worsened. The same condition also happens in State Special School (SLB Negeri) Metro Lampung which affects the parenting of the children. Such kind of attitude and parenting will influence negatively towards the children with special educational needs, if it is neglected, and it is urged to overcome them. This research is aimed at capturing the level of the acceptance and parenting for parents of children with special needs educationenrolled in State Special School (SLB Negeri) Metro who will, then, be given a program in order to make the reception and the parenting better. This is a descriptive research with qualitative approach. This research tried to investigate two crucial points: (1) The parents of children with special needs education enrolled in State Special School (SLB Negeri) Metro who are unable to accept their children's conditions well that influence their parenting, and (2) The parents of children with special needs education who are able to accept their children's condition well, but they are unable to nurture them well due to the limitation of their knowledge in that area. By joining the training program for parents of children with special needs education , it is expected that they can improve their acceptance attitude and have capability in parenting the children of special needs education in their family.
