520 | |a Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara (1) social comparison dengan self-esteem, (2) social comparison dengan gratitude, dan (3) self-esteem dengan gratitude pada remaja pengguna Instagram di Kota Bandung. Penelitian ini juga dilakukan untuk melihat perbedaan social comparison, self-esteem, dan gratitude berdasarkan jenis kelamin, usia, dan intensitas menggunakan Instagram. Partisipan dalam penelitian ini berjumlah 350 remaja usia 14-21 yang aktif menggunakan Instagram. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu Iowa-Netherlands Comparison Orientation Measure (adapted for Facebook Use) yang diadaptasi menjadi konteks Instagram, The Rosenberg Self-esteem Scale, dan The Gratitude Questionnaire-Six Item Form (GQ-6). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan (1) terdapat hubungan negatif sangat rendah antara social comparison dengan self-esteem, (2) terdapat hubungan negatif sangat rendah dan signifikan antara social comparison dengan gratitude, (3) terdapat hubungan positif sedang dan signifikan antara self-esteem dengan gratitude, (4) terdapat perbedaan social comparison yang signifikan berdasarkan jenis kelamin dan intensitas, sedangkan tidak ada perbedaan berdasarkan usia (5) tidak terdapat perbedaan self-esteem berdasarkan jenis kelamin, usia, dan intensitas, serta (6) terdapat perbedaan gratitude yang signifikan berdasarkan usia, sedangkan tidak ada perbedaan berdasarkan jenis kelamin dan intensitas. Kata kunci: social comparison, self-esteem, gratitude, remaja, instagram The purpose of this research was to examine the relationship between (1) social comparison and self-esteem, (2) social comparison and gratitude, and (3) self-esteem and gratitude of Instagram users among adolescence in Bandung. This research was also conducted to see the differences in social comparison, self-esteem, and gratitude based on gender, age, and Instagram use intensity. There are 350 participants in this research who is adolescence age 14-21 and use Instagram. Iowa-Netherlands Comparison Orientation Measure (adapted for Facebook Use) that was adapted for Instagram was used to measure social comparison, The Rosenberg Self-esteem Scale to measure self-esteem, and Gratitude Questionnaire-Six Item Form (GQ-6) to measure gratitude. The result suggests that (1) there is small negative correlation between social comparison and self-esteem, (2) there is small but significant negative correlation between social comparison and gratitude, (3) there is moderate and significant positive correlation between self-esteem and gratitude, (4) there is significant difference in social comparison based on gender and intensity, while no difference in age (5) there is no difference in self-esteem based on gender, age, and intensity, and (6) there is significant difference in gratitude based on age, while no difference in gender and intensity.
