Summary: | Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh pentingnya kemampuan abstraksi matematis sebagai salah satu kemampuan berpikir matematis tingkat tinggi. Tujuan penelitian ini ialah meningkatkan kemampuan abstraksi matematis siswa melalui penerapan strategi brain-based learning berbantuan GeoGebra. Brain-based learning merupakan suatu strategi pembelajaran yang menekankan pentingnya pemenuhan kebutuhan otak untuk belajar secara alami. Pembelajaran ini diimplementasikan kepada siswa kelas VII SMP di salah satu sekolah di Bandung. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kuasi eksperimen. Penelitian ini menggunakan dua kelas. Kelas eksperimen yang menerapkan strategi brain-based learning berbantuan GeoGebra dan kelas kontrol yang menerapkan strategi pembelajaran ekspositori. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, disimpulkan bahwa peningkatan kemampuan abstraksi matematis siswa kelas eksperimen lebih tinggi secara signifikan daripada siswa kelas kontrol dan siswa kelas eksperimen menunjukkan sikap positif terhadap strategi brain-based learning berbantuan GeoGebra. Selanjutnya, bahan ajar yang dibuat berdasarkan strategi brain-based learning berbantuan GeoGebra ini dapat diaplikasikan atau dikembangkan lagi untuk penelitian selanjutnya. ; ---- This research was motivated by the importance of mathematical abstraction ability as one of the high-level mathematical skills with students' ability. The purpose of this research was to improve students' mathematical abstraction ability through the implementation of brain-based learning strategy aided by GeoGebra. Brain-based learning is an instructional strategy that emphasizes the importance of fulfilling the needs of the brain to learn naturally. This strategy was implemented to the 7th grade students at one junior high school in Bandung. The research method used in this study is quasi-experimental. This research involved two classes that consisted of one experimental class which was applied brain-based learning aided by GeoGebra and one control class which was applied expository learning strategy. Based on the results, it's concluded that improvement of experimental class students' mathematical abstraction ability was higher significantly than the control class students' and experimental class students showed a positive attitude towards brain-based learning strategy aided by GeoGebra. Furthermore, teaching materials based on brain-based learning aided by GeoGebra can be applied or developed more for further research. |
