Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui profil miskonsepsi siswa SMA kelas X di Kota Cilegon pada materi ikatan kimia. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kausal komparatif. Instrumen yang digunakan merupakan soal pilihan ganda two-tier dengan teknik piktorial pada materi ikatan kimia yang terdiri atas 13 butir soal dengan nilai CVR sebesar satu, serta nilai Cronbach's Alpha (reliabilitas) untuk keseluruhan butir soal sebesar 0,710. Soal diaplikasikan kepada siswa SMA kelas X yang telah mempelajari ikatan kimia di sekolah kategori tinggi, sedang dan rendah dengan jumlah partisipan sebanyak 317 siswa. Pemilihan sekolah ini berdasarkan hasil nilai Ujian Nasional di SMA Kota Cilegon yang diperoleh dari data Kemendikbud. Dari hasil penelitian teridentifikasi 78 macam miskonsepsi dengan enam miskonsepsi yang signifikan. Miskonsepsi terbesar terdapat pada konsep ikatan kimia (18.3%) yang menyatakan ikatan kimia hanya terdiri dari ikatan ion dan ikatan kovalen. Secara umum terdapat perbedaan miskonsepsi yang signifikan antara siswa SMA kategori tinggi, sedang dan rendah berdasarkan hasil uji ANOVA satu jalur dengan tingkat signifikansi 0.000 (<0.05). Miskonsepsi siswa kelas X SMA di Kota Cilegon pada materi ikatan kimia berdasarkan perbedaan gender tidak memiliki perbedaan yang signifikan berdasarkan hasil uji-t (independent sample t-test) yang menunjukkan tingkat signifikansi sebesar 0.153 (> 0.05). Kata kunci : Ikatan kimia, miskonsepsi, piktorial, profil, tes diagnostik.;--- This study is aimed to find out the profile of misconception among class X students of Senior High School in Cilegon City in the topic of chemical bonding. This study use causal comparative method. The instrument used is two-tier multiple choice with pictorial technique in the topic of chemical bonding which consist of 13 items with CVR value of one, and Cronbach's Alpha value (reliability) to all items of 0.710. The items are applied on class X students of Senior High School who had learned chemical bonding in school with high category, medium category and low category with the number of participants are 317 students. Selection of this school based on the results of National Examination at Senior High School in Cilegon City obtained from Ministry of National Education. From the result of study, it is identified 78 kinds of misconceptions with six significant misconceptions. The most misconception is in concept of chemical bounding definition (18.3%) which states that chemical bonds consisting only of ionic bonds and covalent bonds. In general, there is significant difference of misconception between among Senior High School students with high, medium and low category based on one-way ANOVA test result with level of significance of 0.000 (<0.05). Misconception among class X students of Senior High School in Cilegon City in the topic of chemical bonding based on gender difference does not have significant difference based on test-t result which shows level of significance of 0.153 (> 0.05).
