Summary:The background of this research is about student's comprehension of the Project Based Learning (PjBL) model as student's readiness Educational of Culinary Art field practice experience, in order to understand the description of the model. The purpose of this reseach is to determine of student's comprehension about the PjBL model in general, the planning, implementation and evaluation. This research method is descriptive and quantitative approach. The population and sample in this research are 43 respondents by the total sampling. The results of this research showed that the comprehension of the concept, purpose, characterisrics, procedures, principles, the advantages and disadvantages of the PjBL on the criteria of understanding and procedures planning PjBL model is to be understood while the evaluation PjBL on the criteria is quite understood. Recomendations in this research to students of educational culinary art must improve their comprehension or knowledge of evaluation PjBL lecturer in the course of learning and teaching to more motivating the students so the have the readiness to implement the PPL in Secondary Vocational School. ;---Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh pemahaman mahasiswa tentang model PjBL sebagai kesiapan praktik pengalaman lapangan mahasiswa program studi Pendidikan Tata Boga, diharapkan dapat memberikan gambaran pemahaman model tersebut. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengetahui pemahaman mahasiswa Pendidikan Tata Boga angkatan 2014 tentang model PjBL secara umum, tahap perencanaan, tahap pelaksanan, dan tahap evaluasi. Metode penelitian yang digunakan pendekatan metode deskriptif. Populasi dan sampel penelitian sebanyak 43 responden dengan menggunakan teknik sampel jenuh. Hasil Penelitian menunjukkan pemahaman konsep pengertian, tujuan, karakteristik, tahapan, ciri-ciri, prinsip serta kekurangan dan kelebihan model PjBL berada pada kriteria memahami, tahap perencanaan model PjBL berada pada kriteria memahami, tahap pelaksanaan model PjBL berada pada kriteria memahami dan tahap evaluasi berada pada kriteria cukup memahami. Saran ditujukan pada mahasiswa Pendidikan Tata Boga agar lebih meningkatkan pemahaman tahap evaluasi model PjBL dengan cara mempelajari kembali tentang model PjBL, Dosen mata kuliah belajar & pembelajaran untuk lebih memotivasi mahasiswa Pendidikan Tata Boga agar memiliki kesiapan melaksanakan PPL di SMK.
