Summary:The present study entitled "TEACHER'S EVALUATION OF ENGLISH TEXTBOOK FOR THE USE AT AN ISLAMIC JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL" was aimed at investigating teacher's evaluation of English textbook for the use at an Islamic junior high school in terms of topics and visuals and teacher's evaluation of the Islamic values on the English textbook used at an Islamic junior high school in terms of topics and visuals. Using qualitative method, the study employed a case study design. The data were obtained through teacher's analysis on documents and interviews with an English teacher at an Islamic junior high school. The results revealed in terms of topics and visuals, the teacher believed that the selected texts were interesting since they contained various topics relevant to the standards of competences as covered in the curriculum used at an Islamic junior high school, students' culture and students' background knowledge. In addition, most of the selected reading texts were presented with colorful pictures of real people or things and relevant to the topic discussed. With regard to Islamic values, in terms of topics and visuals the teacher explained that the reading texts contained some good characters reflecting the Islamic values. The result of this study was expected to broaden teacher's knowledge about criteria of good reading texts and to assist teachers to adopt, adapt, or delete some of the inappropriate materials they are expected to use in the classroom. ----- Penelitian ini berjudul Penilaian Guru Terhadap Buku Bahasa Inggris untuk digunakan di Sekolah Islam. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui penilaian guru terhadap buku bahasa Inggris untuk digunakan di Sekolah Islam dalam hal topik dan visual dan penilaian guru terhadap nilai-nilai keislaman yang dipresentasikan dalam buku bahasa Inggris untuk digunakan di Sekolah Islam dalam hal topik dan visual. Dengan menggunakan metode kualitatif, penelitian ini mengaplikasikan studi kasus desain. Data-data penelitian diperoleh melalui analisis guru terhadap dokumen dan wawancara terhadap guru di sekolah Islam tersebut. Penelitian ini menemukan bahwa dalam hal topik dan visual, guru di Sekolah Islam berpendapat bahwa teks-teks yang ada dibuku bahasa Inggris tersebut menarik karena memuat topik-topik yang sesuai dengan SK dan KD yang tercantum dalam kurikulum yang dipakai di Sekolah Islam, dan sesuai dengan budaya siswa dan latar belakang siswa. Selain itu, teks-teks yang ada dibuku bahasa Inggris tersebut dipresentasikan dengan gambar-gambar yang berwarna-warni yang sesuai dengan topik yang dibahas. Berkenaan dengan nilai-nilai keislaman, dalam hal topik dan visual guru di Sekolah Islam tersebut mengatakan bahwa teks-teks yang ada dibuku bahasa Inggris tersebut mengandung beberapa karakter yang merefleksikan nilai-nilai keislaman. Hasil penelitian ini nantinya diharapkan dapat memperluas pengetahuan guru tentang kriteria-kriteria teks yang bagus dan dapat membantu guru untuk mengambil, merubah atau menghapus beberapa materi yang kurang sesuai untuk digunakan dalam pembelajarn dikelas.
