Skripsi ini berjudul Pasang Surut Maskapai Penerbangan Garuda Indonesia Tahun 1949-2014. Masalah utama dalam skripsi ini adalah bagaimana pasang surut maskapai penerbangan indonesia terutama dalam bidang bisnis tahun 1949-2014. Untuk mengkaji perkembangan maskapai penerbangan Garuda Indonesia peneliti menggunakan metode historis yang mencakup enam langkah: memilih satu topik yang sesuai, megusut semua evidensi (bukti) yang relevan dengan topik, membuat catatan yang dianggap penting, mengevaluasi secara kritis semua evidensi (kritik sumber), menyusun hasil penelitian kedalam suatu pola yang benar sesuai dengan sistematika dan menyajikannya secara menarik (historiografi). Hasil penelitian yang diperoleh yaitu maskapai penerbangan Garuda Indonesia berasal dari perusahaan patungan antara Indonesia dan Belanda yang dibentuk bersamaan dengan pengakuan kedaulatan pada 27 Desember 1949. Pemerintah selalu terlibat dalam penentuan kebijakan maskapai penerbangan Garuda Indonesia, salah satu contohnya adalah dalam pemilihan direktur utama yang baru. Dalam perkembangannya maskapai penerbangan Garuda Indonesia sempat nyaris bangkrut karena hutang yang begitu besar di tahun 1990-an, bahkan modal yang dimiliki Garuda Indonesia tidak cukup untuk membayar biaya operasional, kemudian baru meningkat setelah adanya evaluasi dan restrukturisasi perusahaan secara menyeluruh. Selanjutnya maskapai penerbangan Garuda Indonesia baru mendapatkan apresiasi dari berbagai pihak baik dalam maupun luar negeri berupa penghargaan atau prestasi mulai tahun 2000-an ke atas;---This research of paper is titled Fluctuations of Garuda Indonesia Airline in 1949-2014. The main problem in this thesis is how the growth and setback of Gauda Indonesian airline, especially in the field of business in 1949-2014. To study the progress of Garuda Indonesia airlines the researcher uses a historical method that includes six steps: choose a suitable topic, muddle all the evidences (evidence) that are relevant to the topic, make notes that are considered important, critically evaluate all evidences (source criticism), organize the results of research into a proper pattern in accordance with the systematics and presents it interestingly (historiography), The result of the research is Garuda Indonesia airline is derived from a joint venture between Indonesia and Netherlands which was formed together with the recognition of sovereignty on 27 December 1949. The government is always involved in determining the policies of Garuda Indonesia airlines, one example is in the selection of the new chief executive officer. In its development, Garuda Indonesia airline had nearly bankrupt because had a big debt in around 1990. even the capital owned by Garuda Indonesia is not enough to pay the operational costs, then only increased after the evaluation and restructuring of the company overall. airline Garuda Indonesia get appreciation from various parties both domestic and abroad in the form of awards or achievements starting in 2000.
