Penelitian dilatar belakangi oleh pentingnya meningkatkan self esteem.. Penelitian bertujuan untuk memperoleh gambaran umum self esteem siswa Kelas VIII SMP Negeri 40 Bandung Tahun Ajaran 2016-2017. Pendekatan penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode deskriptif. Teori yang digunakan adalah The Antendance of self esteem yang di kemukakan oleh Coopersmith. Pengambilan sampel menggunakan teknik random sampling, sebanyak 150 siswa Temuan penelitian menunjukkan profil self esteem berstatus sosial ekomomi rendah berada pada kategori sedang. Temuan menjadi landasan untuk merancang Program Bimbingan Pribadi Untuk Meningkatkan Kemampuan Self Eesteem Siswa Berstatus Sosial Ekonomi Rendah dan dapat digunakan oleh guru BK sebagai rujukan pengembangan self esteem siswa berstatus sosial ekonomi rendah.----- This study is motivated by the importance of improving student's self esteem. The study aims to obtain a general overview of self-esteem on 8th grader SMP Negeri 40 Bandung Academic Year 2016/2017. The research uses quantitative approach with descriptive method. Sampling used in this study is random sampling technique to 150 students and the sampling result 47 students with low socioeconomic status. The findings of the study show that the students' self esteem is low socioeconomic status is in the medium category. These findings establish the basis for designing a personal guidance program to improve the ability of self-esteem students of low socioeconomic status.
