Proses pembelajaran pada setiap satuan pendidikan dasar dan menengah harus interaktif, inspiratif, menyenangkan, menantang, dan memotivasi peserta didik untuk berpartisipasi aktif. Hal ini tercantum dalam Permen Pendidikan Nasional Republik Indonesia Nomor 41/2007 tentang Standar Proses untuk Satuan Pendidikan. Untuk menciptakan pembelajaran interaktif, menyenangkan dan menantang dapat dikembangkan suatu pembelajaran dalam kelompok-kelompok kecil sebagai upaya menciptakan proses pembelajaran yang menantang dan memotivasi siswa untuk berpartisipasi aktif sehingga memunculkan kemampuan berpikir kritis. Berdasarkan hasil pengolahan angket yang diperoleh dari studi pendahuluan di salah satu SMA Negeri Kota Bandung, siswa lebih suka pembelajaran fisika secara berkelompok. Sedangkan pada proses pembelajaran, siswa masih sebagai penerima materi pelajaran dan guru lebih banyak menyampaikan materi dengan metode ceramah, padahal seharusnya siswa ikut berperan aktif dalam proses pembelajaran dan mengembangkan kemampuan berpikir kritisnya melalui pokok bahasan yang dipelajari melalui masalah. Untuk mengatasi permasalahan tersebut, model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe investigasi kelompok dapat menjadi salah satu alternatif yang dapat diterapkan. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengkaji peningkatan prestasi siswa setelah diterapkan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe investigasi kelompok. Selain itu untuk melihat profil kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa setelah diterapkan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe investigasi kelompok. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode quasi eksperimen dengan sampel penelitian kelas X di salah satu Madrasah Aliyah Negeri Kota Bandung semester genap 2011-2012. Hasil penelitian yang diperoleh setelah diterapkan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe investigasi kelompok yaitu peningkatan prestasi siswa yang ditunjukkan dari rata-rata skor pretest 37 % menjadi 68,3 % untuk rata-rata skor posttest dan nilai rata-rata gain ternormalisasi sebesar 0,5 dengan kategori "Sedang". Selain itu kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa yang terkembangkan setelah diterapkan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe investigasi kelompok sebesar 43,3%. The learning process on each elementary and secondary education units should be interactive, inspiring, fun, challenging, and motivating learners to participate actively. It is listed in the ministerial regulation of the Education Ministers Republic of Indonesia No. 41/2007 on the Standard Process Unit for Education. To create interactive learning, fun and challenging to develop a learning in small groups as an attempt to create a learning process that challenges and motivates students to participate actively so that raises critical thinking skills. Based on the results which were obtained from the questionnaire processing preliminary study in one State High School, Bandung, the students prefer learning physics in groups. Whereas in the learning process, the students still as recipient the subject matter and the teachers present materials with using the lecture method. However, students should follow an active role in the learning process and develop the ability to think critically through the subject matter learned through problem. To overcome these problems, cooperative learning model type of investigation can be one of the alternatives that can be applied. The purposes of this study are to assess the improvement in student achievement after application of cooperative learning model the type of investigation. In addition, the aim is to observe the profile of students' critical thinking skills after applied cooperative learning model the type of group investigation. This research used a quasi-experimental study using sample X-grade in one of Madrasah Aliyah Bandung even semester 2011-2012. The results obtained after applied cooperative learning model the type of group investigation which indicated with increasing student achievement than the average pretest score of 37% to 68.3% for the average posttest scores and average normalized gain of 0.5 by category "Medium". Besides, after applied cooperative learning model the type of group investigation, the critical thinking skills of the students who are developed gain of 43.3%.
