Keterampilan menulis merupakan salah satu keterampilan berbahasa yang harus dikuasai oleh siswa dalam pembelajaran bahasa Jerman. Dalam pembelajaran keterampilan menulis di sekolah, siswa masih mengalami kesulitan. Hal tersebut dapat disebabkan kurangnya motivasi, ide, dan kosakata. Untuk mengatasi persoalan ini, dilakukan sebuah penelitian berupa penerapan media film pendek dalam pembelajaran keterampilan menulis karangan sederhana berbahasa Jerman. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui: 1) keterampilan siswa dalam menulis karangan sederhana berbahasa Jerman sebelum penerapan media film pendek; 2) keterampilan siswa dalam menulis karangan sederhana berbahasa Jerman setelah penerapan media film pendek; 3) perbedaan keterampilan siswa dalam menulis karangan sederhana berbahasa Jerman sebelum dan sesudah penerapan media film pendek; dan 4) efektivitas media film pendek dalam pembelajaran keterampilan menulis karangan sederhana berbahasa Jerman. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode eksperimen semu dengan Nonequivalent Control Group Design. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas XI SMA PGII 2 Bandung dengan sampel siswa kelas XI MIPA 2 sebagai kelas eksperimen dan XI MIPA 1 sebagai kelas kontrol. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat diketahui bahwa: 1) keterampilan siswa kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol dalam menulis karangan sederhana berbahasa Jerman sebelum penerapan film pendek termasuk dalam kategori "sedang"; 2) keterampilan siswa kelas eksperimen dalam menulis karangan sederhana berbahasa Jerman setelah penerapan media film pendek termasuk dalam kategori "baik" dan kemampuan siswa kelas kontrol termasuk dalam kategori "cukup"; 3) terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan pada keterampilan menulis siswa kelas eksperimen sebelum dan setelah penerapan media film pendek. Hal ini dibuktikan dengan perolehan hasil nilai rata-rata pretest sebesar 59,1 dan posttest sebesar 84,2; dan 4) media film pendek efektif diterapkan dalam pembelajaran keterampilan menulis karangan sederhana berbahasa Jerman. Hal tersebut dibuktikan dengan hasil perhitungan uji-t, yakni nilai signifikansi yang diperoleh kurang dari 0,05 (0,000 < 0,05). Oleh karena itu, dapat disimpulkan bahwa film pendek dapat menjadi salah satu media alternatif untuk meningkatkan keterampilan siswa dalam menulis karangan sederhana berbahasa Jerman. Writing skill is one of the language skills that have to be mastered by students. Some students in high school still have difficulties in writing. It is caused by lack of motivation, ideas, and vocabulary. To solve this problem, a research was conducted through-the effectivity of short film in writing German simple essay. The purpose of this research was to find out: 1) students' ability in writing German simple essay before the application of short films; 2) students' ability in writing German simple essay after the application of short film; 3) the differences of students' ability in writing German simple essay before and after the application of short films; and 4) the effectivity of short films in writing German simple essay. Quasi experimental method with Nonequivalent Control Group Design was used in this research. The population in this research was all the students of the class XI of SMA PGII 2 Bandung. The sample of this research was the students of XI MIPA 2 as the experiment class and the students of XI MIPA 1 as the control class. Based on the results of the research, it could be seen that: 1) students' ability of the experiment class and control class in writing German simple essay before the application of short films is in the "moderate" category; 2) students' ability of the experiment class in writing German simple essay after the application of the short films is in the "good" category and the students' ability in writing German simple essay of the control class is in the "adequate" category; 3) there were significant differences of the students' ability in writing German simple essay in the experiment class and the control class before and after the application of the short films. This is proven by the results of the experiment class's pretest average score of 59,1 and the posttest average score of 84,2; and 4) short films are effective in writing German simple essay. This is proven by the results of the t-test, namely: significance score is lower than 0,05 (0,000 < 0,05). Therefore, short films could be used as one of the alternative media in order to improve the students' ability in writing German simple essay.
