Penelitian ini dilatar belakangi oleh keprihatinan penulis terhadap kurangnya keaktifan belajar siswa di kelas VIII- 10 SMP Negeri 1 Bandung. Hal tersebut dapat dilihat dari keaktifan siswa selama proses pembelajaran yaitu : pertama pada saat proses pembelajaran guru menyampaikan materi siswa tidak memperhatikan, kedua kurangnya minat siswa dalam mengikuti pembalajaran , siswa asik mengobrol dengan teman sebangku , ketiga guru cenderung masih menggunakan metode ceramah dalam menyampaikan materi IPS , ke empat tidak adanya timbal balik antara siswa dan guru dalam proses pembelajaran di lihat dari kurangnya interaksi dalam membahas materi pembelajaran. Melihat permasalahan tersebut maka peneliti memilih metode Course Review Horay sebagai solusi untuk meningkatkan keaktifan belajar siswa dalam mengikuti pembelajaran. Adapun jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) desain yang di gunakan adalah Kemmis dan Mc Taggart melalui empat tahapan . penelitian ini dilakukan melalui tiga siklus: siklus pertama persentase yang diperoleh adalah 56,06% dengan kategori kurang. Kemudian di siklus kedua mengalami peningkatan sebesar 14% sehingga persentase yang diperoleh adalah 70,06%. Kemudian di siklus ketiga mengalami peningkatan sebesar 22% menjadi 93,19%. Sehingga berdasarkan hal tersebut metode Course Review Horay dapat meningkatkan keaktifan belajar siswa. This research is motivated by the authors' concerns about the lack of learning activity of students in class VIII-10 of SMP Negeri 1 Bandung. It can be seen from the activeness of students during the learning process, namely: first when the learning process the teacher conveys the material students do not pay attention to, both students lack interest in participating in learning, students chat with peers, the three teachers tend to use the lecture method in delivering social studies , the fourth absence of reciprocity between students and teachers in the learning process is seen from the lack of interaction in discussing learning material. Seeing these problems, the researchers chose the Course Review Horay method as a solution to increase student learning activeness in participating in learning. The type of research used is the Classroom Action Research (CAR) design used is Kemmis and Mc Taggart through four stages. This research was conducted through three cycles: the first cycle of the percentage obtained was 56.06% with a less category. Then in the second cycle there was an increase of 14% so the percentage obtained was 70.06%. Then in the third cycle increased by 22% to 93.19%. So based on this, the Course Review Horay method can improve student learning activeness.
