Summary:Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektivitas metode SAS (Struktural Analitik Sintetik) berbantuan media Big Book dalam pembelajaran membaca permulaan di Sekolah Dasar. Penelitian ini menggunakan penelitian kuasi eksperimen dengan nonequevalent control-grup design. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan tes membaca permulaan dan observasi. Popuasi dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa Sekolah Dasar Negeri Jayagiri Lembang dengan sampel sebanyak 59 siswa yang terbagi ke dalam 29 siswa kelas kontrol dan 30 kelas eksperimen. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: 1) Gambaran awal kemampuan membaca permulaan pada siswa Sekolah Dasar Negeri Jayagiri Lembang antara kelas kontrol dan kelas eksperimen belum menunjukkan hasil yang optimal; 2) Proses pelaksanaan pembelajaran membaca permulaan mencangkup kegiatan awal, kegiatan inti, dan kegiatan penutup. Prosedur yang dilaksanakan adalah menggunakan metode SAS (Struktural Analitik Sintetik) berbantuan media Big Book yang diberikan pada kelas eksperimen; 3) Efektivitas pembelajaran membaca permulaan menggunakan metode SAS (Struktural Analitik Sintetik) berbantuan media Big Book terdapat peningkatan yang signifikan. Kesimpulannya bahwa metode SAS (Struktural Analitik Sintetik) berbantuan media Big Book dapat meningkatkan kemampuan siswa yang memberikan penguatan visual dari Big Book yang digunakan dan penguatan linguistik dari pembaca Big Book. Kata kunci : Membaca Permulaan, Big Book, Siswa Sekolah Dasar ABSTRACT EFFECTIVENESS OF THE SAS (STRUCTURAL ANALYTIC SYNTHETIC METHOD) BIG BOOK MEDIA IN LEARNING READING BEGINNING IN BASIC SCHOOLS By Wulan Asri Nia SS NIM 1706858 This research is motivated by the skills of first grade students in beginning reading. this can be seen from the tests obtained by students. The completeness of the Minimum Criteria that was set was 70. In connection with the problem, the researcher tried to apply the SAS (Structural Analytic Analytic) method assisted by the general ledger media to overcome the problem. The purpose of this research is to study the implementation and improve initial reading skills by applying the SAS method aided by the ledger media. This study uses a quasi-experimental study with a nonequevalent control group design. The sample in this study was grade 1 students at SDN Jayagiri Lembang with 59 students who were divided into 2 classes, namely the experimental class and the control class. The instrument used in this study was the observation sheet, and the initial reading ability test questions. Based on the findings, the SAS method learning process that is assisted by ledger media can be optimally applied with good classroom management, interesting media and in accordance with student development, and actively involving students. The results showed that there was an increase in students' initial reading skills who received the SAS learning method assisted by the ledger media. This is because the SAS method assisted by the general ledger media is an activity that provides visual reinforcement of the general ledger used and the strengthening of the general ledger reader linguistics.
