Penelitian ini berjudul "Pembuatan Alat Musik Tradisional Gerantung Pada Masyrakat Gayo Aceh Tengah" Gerantung merupakan alat musik melodis yang tergolong dalam alat musik tradisional Gayo Aceh Tengah, alat musik tradisional Gerantung terdiri dari 15 buah nada, dengan bentuk yang sama akan tetapi ukuran panjangnya yang berbeda-beda. Alat musik Gerantung dimainkan dengan cara menggoyangkan body Gerantung tersebut. Penelitian ini mengkaji pembuatan alat musik Gerantung, dengan fokus permasalahan yaitu tentang konsep pembuatan alat musik Gerantungdan proses pembuatan alat musik Gerantung. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode kualitatif menggunakan pendekatan etnomusikologi. Lokasi penelitian dilakukan di desa Belang Mersah, kecamatan Laut Tawar, kabupaten Aceh Tengah. Temuan dari hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa alat musik tradisional Gerantung dibuat pada tahun 1987. Konsep pembuatan alat musik tradisional Gerantung dilatar belakangi oleh kebutuhan budaya masyrakat Gayo. Proses pembuatan alat musik Gerantung di awali dengan proses pmilihan bahan yaitu kayu nangka, pemilihan alat, pengolahan bahan sampai pada proses pembuatan yang dilakukan dengan 20 langkah secara terstruktur, teknik memainkannya yaitu dengan cara menggoyangkan body Gerantung ke arah kanan dan kiri dengan seimbang, suara yang dihasilkan ialah dari hasil benturan anak bandulan yang ada di tengah-tengah ruang prroduksi suara. Alat musik tradisional Gerantung masuk dalam klasifikasi alat musik idiophone.;---This research entitled "The Making of Traditional Musical Instruments Hanging in Gayo Community of Central Aceh" Gerantung is a melodic instrument belonging to the traditional musical instrument Gayo Central Aceh, Gerantung traditional music instrument consists of 15 pieces of tone, with the same shape but the size of different length - different. The process of making music instruments Gerantung start with the process of selection of materials namely wood jackfruit, tool selection, processing of materials to the manufacturing process is done with 20 steps in a structured, the technique of play is by shaking the body Gesture to the right and left with a balanced, produced is the result of a collision of the pendulum child in the middle of the sound production room.
