Concept image merupakan representasi visual serta seluruh struktur kognisi yang ada dalam benak individu yang terasosiasi terhadap suatu konsep. Concept image bersifat tidak unik, artinya representasi setiap individu terhadap konsep yang sama dapat berbeda-beda sesuai dengan persepektif dan pengalaman-pengalaman yang telah dimiliki sebelumnya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji concept image siswa terhadap materi sistem pertidaksamaan linear dua variabel setelah siswa mempelajari materi tersebut di kelas. Selanjutnya, Concept image yang dimiliki oleh siswa akan dibandingkan dengan concept image guru dan konsep saintifik menurut matematikawan serta dilihat seberapa jauh kesenjangan concept image yang terjadi antara ketiga subjek tersebut. Jika antara guru dan matematikawan terdapat kesenjangan concept image yang jauh, maka akan terjadi kesenjangan concept image yang jauh pula antara siswa dan matematikawan yang akan berdampak pada pemahaman dan pemaknaan siswa terhadap konsep-konsep matematika lainnya yang lebih tinggi. Pada penelitian ini juga dikaji hal-hal yang melatar belakangi concept image yang dimiliki oleh siswa dan kemungkinan adanya learning obstacle. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan fenomenologi hermeneutik yang merupakan sebuah kajian yang dilakukan untuk menginterpretasikan suatu makna yang diperoleh seseorang terhadap suatu pengalaman. Siswa yang diteliti berjumlah 11 orang yang berasal dari dua kelas berbeda yang diajar oleh guru yang sama. Berdasarkan penelitian yang telah dilakukan, terdapat kesenjangan concept image yang cukup jauh antara matematikawan dan guru, kesenjangan yang jauh antara guru dengan siswa, dan kesenjangan yang sangat jauh antara siswa dengan matematikawan terhadap konsep sistem pertidaksamaan linear dua variabel.;---Concept image is the visual representation and all cognitive structure in individual's mind associated with the given concepts. Concept image is not unique. Every individual represents the same concept differently depending on their own perspective and previous experience. The purpose of this research is to study student's concept image on system of linear inequalities in two variables based on student's learning experience in class. Furthermore, the concept image of students will be compared to the concept image of the teacher and scientific concept represented by a mathematician. If there is a significant gap between the concept image of the teacher and the mathematician, then the gap of concept image between the students and the mathematician would also be significant. A significant gap between the concept image of the students and the mathematicians will give an impact on the student's understanding towards higher mathematical concepts. This research also examines the reasons behind student's concept image and the possibility of learning obstacle. This research uses qualitative method with hermeneutic phenomenology approach. Study to interpret human's understanding of an experience. Participants in this research are 11 students from two different classes that were taught by the same teacher. This research concludes that there is a quite significant gap of concept image between the mathematician and the teacher, a significant gap between the teacher and the students, and a very significant gap between students and the mathematician on system of linear inequalities in two variable's concept
