This research is motivated because of the controversy in the Ahok case. The controversy lies in Indonesian society which suddenly entrenched into the pro Ahok camp and the Ahok counter camp. This happened because of the controversy by Ahok in the Thousand Islands about his speech. Because the Ahok case has been officially closed and finished in a legal case, the author tries to take the case to the academic realm as a thesis based on a controversial issue because it is still hotly discussed by the public. Evidence that this is still hotly discussed in March 2019, distributed videos representing one of the political figures who talked about Ahok and made netizens discuss the case again. The purpose of this study (1) to describe what was agreed by Ahok in his speech in the Thousand Islands, (2) describe the learning of Ahok's speech in the Thousand Islands requires a controversial, (3) describe public reports about Ahok's language. This study uses a qualitative method using semiotics as a theoretical approach. The data used consisted of Ahok's speech in the Thousand Islands and also the community's response to the video delivered by Ahok in the Thousand Islands. The findings of this study are (1) pointing pattern formation of sentences consisting of SPOK there apspek representation (2) found denotation meaning dominance, (3) found to improve the maxim and find a dominance of the community's level that can refute or refute.
