As part of Research Articles (Ras), an abstract serves as a gateway to the entire RAs and holds an essential role in determining whether the readers will continue to read the RA or not. Hence, a quality abstract is needed to raise the possibility of an RAs being accepted by international and national publishers. This study analyzed the rhetorical moves and linguistic features of nursing RAs abstracts. This study attempted to inform researchers in the field of nursing to improve their writing for international and national publications. It involved 48 samples of nursing RAs abstracts taken from 6 journals: 3 Scopus-indexed and reputable international journals, 3 Sinta-indexed national journals. A descriptive comparative qualitative and a simple descriptive quantification approach was employed as an analytical procedure with reference to Hyland's (2000) adapted model. The study found that there were some similarities and differences in the realization of rhetorical moves and linguistic features from both groups of nursing RA abstracts under examination. This study suggests that those rhetorical moves and linguistic features could be the guideline for the researchers in the field of nursing in writing for publications.
