Summary:Boarding School Education is one of the efforts undertaken by schools to develop students' independent character. This research is motivated by programs from schools that are able to develop the character of independence. The purpose of this study is to produce a description of the development of the character of independence in boarding school education. This research uses a qualitative research approach with a case study research design. The subjects of this study involved educators, caregivers and students. Researchers conduct interviews, observations and study documentation. The results of this study include the description of the character of independence in boarding school education, the development of the independence of character in boarding school education, obstacles to the development of independence character in boarding school education and solutions in developing the character of independence in boarding school education. The implication of the results of this study is that Boarding School education can develop the character of independence of students.
