Summary:Curriculum 2013 requires language learning that exposing student to the use of language as communication tools to express idea and knowledge. Accordingly, textbook as the most used teaching materials in language classroom should have authenticity in order to achieve the aims of language learning in Curriculum 2013. However, not all of the authentic materials provided in the textbook are compatible for teaching materials and learners. Therefore, this study attempts to analyze the authentic reading materials of a textbook regarding to its authenticity. The research focuses on reading materials since is the main aspect of the textbook for simulating the learners about the topic of the chapter. A reading materials‟ authenticity analysis checklist is utilized to examine reading materials regarding their naturalness, exploitability, learners‟ relevance and cultural fitness. There are four texts that being analyzed from a textbook of eleventh-grader entitled "English Skills for the Future 2" by Grafindo Mediapratama publisher. The results show that the reading materials likely to meet the criteria, however there are some deficiencies that each text has in term of its learners‟ relevance and cultural fitness. Therefore, in order to maximize the function of the authentic reading materials the role of the teacher is really crucial in the teaching-learning process.
