Kemampuan koneksi matematis adalah salah satu kemampuan penting yang diharapkan dimiliki oleh siswa. Tanpa kemampuan koneksi siswa harus belajar dan mengingat banyak konsep atau prosedur dalam matematika serta menganggap bahwa konsep matematika saling terpisah dan berdiri sendiri. Begitu pentingnya kemampuan koneksi matematis dalam pembelajaran, maka dilakukanlah sebuah penelitian dengan tujuan untuk mengetahui kemampuan koneksi matematis siswa SMP dalam menyelesaikan soal lingkaran. Selain itu, penelitian ini juga bertujuan untuk mengetahui respons siswa terhadap aktivitasnya dalam menyelesaikan soal lingkaran. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode deskriptif dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan mengujikan soal lingkaran untuk tes kemampuan koneksi matematis siswa dan diberikan lembar angket serta dilakukan wawancara untuk mengeetahui respons siswa terhadap aktivitas dalam menyelesaikan soal yang dikerjakannya. Subjek dari penelitian ini adalah suatu kelompok siswa SMP kelas VIII di Kabupaten Bandung Barat. Analisisnya berdasarkan pada penskoran jawaban siswa serta ketercapaaian indikator koneksi pada setiap kriteria kemampuan koneksi matematis. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa dalam menyelesaikan soal lingkaran, sekelompok siswa memiliki kemampuan koneksi matematis yang terbagi ke dalam 5 kriteria, yaitu baik sekali, baik, cukup, kurang, dan kurang sekali. Subjek penelitian yang mewakili tiap kriteria kemampuan koneksi matematis tersebut memiliki pencapaian yang berbeda terhadap indikator kemampuan koneksi matematis. Respons subjek penelitian terhadap aktivitasnya dalam menyelesaikan soal lingkaran pun beragam. Diantaranya yaitu subjek memahami maksud dan pertanyaan pada soal dan subjek bisa menerapkan hubungan antar konsep yang ada. The Mathematical connection ability is one of the important abilities that students are expected to have it. Without mathematical connection skills students must do more effort to learn and remember several concepts or procedures in mathematics and assume that mathematical concepts are separated and standing of themselves. Because of the importance of the ability of mathematical connections in learning activities, a study was conducted with the aim to find out the mathematical connection ability of junior high school students in solving circle problems. In addition, the research aims to determine the students's responses to their activities in resolving circle problems. The method of research used is a descriptive method with a qualitative approach. This research is done by asking the circle for a test of the mathematical connection capability of students and given a questionnaire and interview to find out the student's response to the activity in resolving the questions he is working with. The subject of this study is a group of class VIII junior high school students in West Bandung Regency. The analysis is based on the students's answer scoring as well as the achievement of connection indicators on each of the mathematical connection capability criteria. The results of this study showed that in solving the problem of circles, a group of students has the ability of mathematical connections that are divided into 5 criteria, namely good, good, enough, less, and less once. The research subject representing each criteria of the mathematical connection capability has different achievements in the mathematical connection capability indicators. The response to the research subject to its activities in resolving circles was varied. Among them, the subject understands the intent and questions on the question and the subject can apply relationships between existing concepts.
