Latar belakang peneliti mengambil tema penelitian tersebut karena ketertarikan terhadap badan perjuangan atau kelaskaran bersifat kedaerahan yang berjuang pada masa Revolusi Fisik. Pemilihan Pasukan Pangeran Papak (PPP) sebagai objek penelitian dikarenakan badan perjuangan atau kelaskaran ini berada di Garut merupakan kampung halaman peneliti sehingga terjangkau dan belum mendapatkan perhatian di kalangan akademisi. Masalah utama yang diangkat dalam skripsi ini adalah "Bagaimana peran Pasukan Pangeran Papak (PPP) dalam perjuangan selama masa Revolusi Fisik di Garut tahun 1945-1949?" Berdasarkan permasalahan tersebut peneliti membaginya dalam tiga rumusan masalah, Bagaimana situasi Indonesia pada masa Revolusi Fisik? Apakah yang melatarbelakangi terbentuknya Pasukan Pangeran Papak (PPP) tahun 1945? Bagaimana bentuk perjuangan Pasukan Pageran Papak (PPP) pada masa Revolusi Fisik di Garut (1945-1949)? Metode yang digunakan adalah metode historis dengan empat langkah penelitian, yaitu heuristik, kritik, interpretasi, dan historiografi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan latar belakang dibentuknya Pasukan Pangeran Papak (PPP) merupakan bentuk upaya yang dilakukan rakyat sekitar Wanaraja, Garut menghadapi babak baru perjuangan usai kemerdekaan. Upaya rakyat ini mendapatkan tekanan dari militer Belanda mengingat, Pasukan Pangeran Papak (PPP) memutuskan tetap menetap di Wanaraja, Garut yang merupakan wilayah Belanda berdasarkan Garis Van Mook. Tindakan revolusi yang dilakukan Pasukan Pangeran Papak (PPP) di Wanaraja, Garut berhasil memukul mundur Belanda tidak memasuki daerah Wanaraja, Garut. Kata Kunci : Badan Perjuangan atau Kelaskaran, Pasukan Pangeran Papak, Revolusi Fisik, Garut. This thesis entitled "The Role of the Pasukan Pangeran Papak (PPP) in the Physical Revolution Period in Garut (1945-1949)" In general, this research discusses the events that occurred in Garut in 1945-1949. The researcher's background took the theme of this research because of the interest in the regional struggle or social organization that fought during the Physical Revolution. The choice of the Pasukan Pangeran Papak (PPP) as the object of research was because this body of struggle or society in Garut was the researcher's hometown it was affordable and had not yet received attention among academics. The main problem raised in this thesis is "What was the role of the Pasukan Pangeran Papak (PPP) in the struggle during the Physical Revolution in Garut in 1945-1949?" Based on this main problem, the researcher divided them into three problem formulations, What was the situation in Indonesia during the Physical Revolution? What was the background for the formation of the Pasukan Pangeran Papak (PPP) in1945? What was the form of the Pasukan Pangeran Papak struggle during the Physical Revolution in Garut (1945-1949)? The method used is the historical method with four research steps, heuristics, critics, interpretation, and historiography. The results showed that the background of the formation of the Pasukan Pangeran Papak (PPP) was a form of the efforts made by the people around Wanaraja, Garut to face a new phase of struggle after independence. This people's effort came under pressure from the Dutch military considering that the Pangeran Papak decided to remain in Wanaraja, Garut which is a Dutch territory based on Garis Van Mook. The revolutionary action carried out by the Pasukan Pangeran Papak (PPP) in Wanaraja, Garut succeeded in repelling the Dutch from entering the Wanaraja, Garut.
