Lensa kontak ialah alat bantu penglihatan yang bertujuan untuk terapeutik ataupun kosmetik. Lensa kontak memerlukan perawatan untuk menghindari resiko sindrom dry eyes yaitu kondisi dimana berkurangnya fungsi air mata sehingga tidak dapat melumasi permukaan mata bagian kornea. Perawatan lensa kontak yang perlu diperhatikan yaitu perilaku mencuci tangan menggunakan sabun/antiseptik, memelihara lensa kontak, memperhatikan durasi dan frekuensi pemakaian serta mampu menghindari ketidaknyamanan saat pemakaian lensa kontak. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi kebiasaan pengguna lensa kontak dalam melakukan perawatan untuk menghindari sindrom dry eyes. Jenis penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kuantitatif dengan kuesioner sebagai instrumen utama. Subjek penelitian yaitu 47 orang mahasiswa D3 keperawatan UPI kampus Sumedang dengan teknik non probability sampling dan metode total sampling. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa kebiasaan perawatan lensa kontak untuk menghindari sindrom dry eyes sebanyak 37 orang (78.7%) berada pada kategori baik, 9 orang (19.1%) dengan kategori cukup dan 1 orang (2.1%) termasuk kategori kurang. Sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa sebagian besar responden mahasiswa D3 Keperawatan UPI kampus Sumedang yaitu sebanyak 37 orang (78.7%) memiliki kebiasaan perawatan lensa kontak yang baik dalam menghindari sindrom dry eyes. Diharapkan penelitian selanjutnya dapat menambah variabel penelitian sehingga mendapatkan perbandingan dan hubungan antar variabel yang menghasilkan teori dan konsep lebih rinci mengenai sindrom dry eyes. Contact lenses are vision aids that are for therapeutic or cosmetic purpose. Contact lenses require treatment to avoid the risk of dry eyes syndrome, a condition where tears are reduced and therefore unable to lubricate the surface of the cornea. Contact lens care to note is the behavior of hand washing using soap / antiseptic, maintaining contact lenses, paying attention to the duration and frequency of use and being able to avoid discomfort when wearing contact lenses. This study aims toexplore thehabits of contact lens users in carrying out treatments to avoid dry eyes syndrome. This type of research is descriptive quantitative with questionnaires as the main instrument. The research subjects were 47 students of D3 nursing UPI Sumedang campus with non probability sampling techniques and total sampling methods. The results showed that contact lens treatment habits to avoid dry eyes syndrome as many as 37 people (78.7%) in the good category, 9 people (19.1%) with enough categories and 1 person (2.1%) including less categories. So it can be concluded that the majority of respondents of D3 Nursing students UPI Sumedang campus is as many as 37 people (78.7%) have a good habit of contact lens care in avoiding dry eyes syndrome. It is expected that further research can add research variables so as to get comparisons and relationships between variables that produce more detailed theories and concepts regarding dry eyes syndrome.
