Description
This research aims to determine work posture and the level of risk of injury in the practice of transmission overhaul using transmission jack electric as well as provide recommendations for ergonomic work station design based on anthropometry of students of the UPI Mechanical Engineering Education Study Program. A quantitative method with a descriptive approach is used to answer the objectives of this study. Data collection was carried out by filling out anthropometric questionnaires regarding the body size dimensions of the 2018 automotive concentration students and the QEC questionnaire which was carried out during practice. The data that has been obtained is then processed by calculating the exposure score and exposure level of 3 students who were observed during the transmission overhaul practice for QEC data and uniformity test, adequacy test, and percentile of 49 students for anthropometric data. The results of data processing from this study indicate that there are several awkward postures that students do in this transmission overhaul practice, such as a back that is too bent, neck flexed, and arms that reach up beyond shoulder height which can causes musculoskeletal disorders. As a result of the non-ergonomic work posture, the results obtained were exposure scores of 69.14%, 69.14%, 75.93% for the three students representing the 5th, 50th and 95th percentiles. This value can be described that the transmission overhaul practice work station needs to be investigated further and changes are made as soon as possible.
