Terdapat dua temuan masalah pada pembelajaran resensi di SMA Negeri 2 Kota Cirebon yang melatarbelakangi penelitian ini, antara lain: (1) kurangnya kemampuan siswa dalam mengembangkan ide tulisan resensi; dan (2) penggunaan teknik serta media pembelajaran yang kurang menarik. Temuan masalah-masalah tersebut perlu dipecahkan dengan metode dan prosedur yang mengacu pada pembuktian secara ilmiah melalui penelitian. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode eksperimen kuasi yang bertujuan untuk menguji keefektifan penerapan teknik Ishikawa Fishbone dalam pembelajaran menulis resensi novel yang dijalani siswa kelas XI SMA Negeri 2 Kota Cirebon. Data penelitian utama yang digunakan dalam penelitian adalah data hasil tes awal serta tes akhir siswa kelas kontrol dan kelas eksperimen. Data penelitian dikumpulkan menggunakan teknik tes yang akan menyesuaikan desain penelitian Nonequivalent Control Group Design. Peneliti menggunakan beberapa teknik pengumpulan data, yakni teknik tes, wawancara, studi dokumentasi, observasi, dan angket. Data nilai tes awal dan tes akhir kedua kelompok kelas dinyatakan memiliki sebaran yang tidak normal dan varian yang homogen, sehingga digunakan uji hipotesis Mann Whitney. Hasil perhitungan uji hipotesis Mann Whitney memunculkan hasil Zhitung sebesar -3.885 dengan Asymp. Sig. (2-tailed) sebesar 0,000 yang lebih kecil dari tingkat α = 5% (asymp. sig. (2-tailed) < 0,050), sehingga Ho ditolak dan Ha diterima, yang berarti terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan pada kemampuan menulis resensi novel antara siswa kelas kontrol dan siswa kelas eksperimen. Rerata nilai tes awal kelas kontrol adalah 56,36 dan mengalami kenaikan pada tes akhir sebesar 12,50 dengan rerata nilai akhir sebesar 68,86 yang masuk pada rentang nilai kategori cukup. Kelas eksperimen turut mengalami kenaikan rerata nilai tes yang signifikan dari angka 54,23 pada tes awal menjadi 77,23 pada tes akhir yang masuk pada rentang nilai kategori baik. Konklusi dari hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan teknik Ishikawa Fishbone dapat dinyatakan sebagai teknik pembelajaran yang efektif untuk digunakan dalam pembelajaran menulis resensi novel. There are two findings of problems in reviews learning at SMA Negeri 2 Kota Cirebon, which are the background of this research, including: (1) the lack of students' abilities in developing review writing ideas; and (2) the use of less attractive learning techniques and media. The findings of these problems need to be solved using methods and procedures that refer to scientific evidence through research. This study uses a quasi-experimental method that aims to test the effectiveness of the application of the Ishikawa Fishbone technique in writing novel reviews learning that are carried out by 11th grade students of SMA Negeri 2 Kota Cirebon. The main research data used in this research is the results of the initial test and the final test of students in the control class and the experimental class. Research data was collected using a test technique that would adjust the research design of the Nonequivalent Control Group Design. Several data collection techniques are used, namely tests, interviews, documentation studies, observations, and questionnaires. The data of the initial test scores and the final test scores of the two class groups were declared to have an abnormal distribution and homogeneous variance, so the Mann Whitney hypothesis test was used. The results of the calculation of the Mann Whitney hypothesis test led to a Zcount of -3,885 with Asymp. Sig. (2-tailed) of 0.000 which is smaller than the level of = 5% (asymp. sig. (2-tailed) < 0.050), so Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted, which means that there is a significant difference in the ability to write novel reviews between students control class and experimental class students. The mean score of the control class initial test was 56.36 and increased in the final test of 12.50 with an average final score of 68.86, which was included in the value range of the "sufficient" category. The experimental class also experienced a significant increase in the average test score from 54.23 in the initial test to 77.23 in the final test, which was included in the range of values in the "good" category. The conclusion of the research shows that the use of the Ishikawa Fishbone technique can be stated as an effective learning technique to be used in writing novel review learning.
