Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk memanfaatkan teks opini redaksi pada media massa sebagai bahan ajar teks editorial di kelas XII SMA. Penelitian ini dilakukan karena perubahan kurikulum tidak selalu dibarengi dengan pembaruan bahan ajar sehingga terjadi ketimpangan antara kurikulum terbaru dengan bahan ajar yang ada. Pembelajaran bahasa Indonesia di SMA menggunakan pembelajaran berbasis genre. Hal ini dilakukan dengan harapan agar siswa mampu menerapkan fungsi teks dalam kehidupan bermasyarakat. Salah satu teks yang diajarkan di SMA adalah teks editorial. Metode analisis yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode deskriptif kualitatif dengan model CARS (Create a Research Space) yang ditemukan oleh Swales (1990). Model analisis CARS memfokuskan penelitiannya pada fungsi komunikasi dengan mengklasifikasikan tingkatan dan langkah dalam sebuah teks. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya keselarasan antara temuan analisis pada opini redaksi pada media massa dengan teori teks editorial terkait struktur, fungsi, dan kaidah kebahasaan. Setiap tingkatan pada hasil analisis CARS dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai struktur teks editorial, fungsi langkah-langkah yang ditemukan dalam setiap tingkatan dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai fungsi teks editorial, dan penanda kebahasaan yang ditemukan dalam analisis CARS dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai kaidah kebahasaan teks editorial. Adapun temuan akhirnya berupa struktur teks editorial yang terdiri atas judul, pengenalan isu, penyampaian argumentasi, dan kesimpulan/rekomendasi. Fungsi teks editoral menjelaskan, memprediksi, mengajak, meyakinkan, dan memengaruhi. Kaidah kebahasaan teks editorial meliputi ungkapan retoris, kata-kata populer, konjungsi kausalitas, kata ganti tunjuk. Kata kunci: bahan ajar, genre teks, model CARS, teks editorial. The purpose of this study was to utilize editorial opinion texts in the newspaper as teaching materials for editorial texts in class XII of senior high school. This study was conducted because curriculum changes are not always accompanied by updating of teaching materials so that there is an imbalance between the latest curriculum and existing teaching materials. Indonesian language learning in high school uses genre-based learning. This is done with the hope that students are able to apply the function of the text in social life. One of the texts taught in high school is editorial text. The analytical method used in this study is a qualitative descriptive method with the CARS (Create a Research Space) model found by Swales (1990). The CARS analysis model focuses its research on the function of communication by classifying moves and steps in a text. The results of the study show that there is a harmony between the findings of the analysis on editorial opinion in the newspaper and the theory of editorial texts related to the structure, function, and linguistic rules. Each moves in the results of the CARS analysis can be used as the structure of the editorial text, the function of the steps found in each moves can be used as a function of the editorial text, and the linguistic markers found in the CARS analysis can be used as the linguistic rules of the editorial text. The final findings are in the form of an editorial text structure consisting of the title, introduction of issues, presentation of arguments, and conclusions/recommendations. Editorial text functions explain, predict, invite, convincing and influencing. The linguistic rules of the editorial text include rhetorical expressions, popular words, causal conjunctions, and demonstrative pronouns.
