Udagan tina ieu panalungtikan nyaéta pikeun ngabandingkeun struktur jeung motif indeks anu aya dina novél Baruang ka nu Ngarora jeung novél Siti Nurbaya. Métode anu digunakeun panalungtik nyaéta déskriptif analisis. Sangkan leuwih gampang jeung sistematis dina prosés analisisna, instrumen anu dipaké pikeun ngumpulkeun data nyaéta maké kartu data. Hasil tina ieu panalungtikan nétélakeun yén novél Baruang ka nu Ngarora jeung novél Siti Nurbaya miboga téma anu sarua nyaéta ngeunaan carita runtagna kisah cinta kusabab masalah ékonomi sarta miboga galur anu sarua nyaéta galur mérélé. Lian ti éta, dina unggal novél kapanggih dua motif indeks anu sarua nyaéta motif magic jeung motif captives and fugitives. Tapi bédana dina novél Siti Nurbaya leuwih loba kapanggih motif indeksna nyaéta motif magic, motif humor, motif tabu, motif the dead, motif captives and fugitives. Penelitian ini ingin meneliti tentang perbandingan struktur cerita yang terdapat dalam novel Baruang ka nu Ngarora karya D.K. Ardiwinata dan novel Siti Nurbaya karya Marah Rusli. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk membandingkan struktur dan motif indeks novel Baruang ka nu Ngarora dan novel Siti Nurbaya. Seterusnya, peneliti ingin meneliti motif indeks dari kedua cerita dinovel ini. Metode yang digunakan peneliti dalam penelitian ini adalah deskriptif analisis. Dalam proses pengolahan dan pengumpulan data, peneliti menggunakan instrumen kartu data. Objek penelitian ini adalah novel Baruang ka nu Ngarora dan novel Siti Nurbaya. Hasil dari penelitian ini menjelaskasn bahwa novel Baruang ka nu Ngarora dan novel Siti Nurbaya mempunyai tema cerita yang sama, yaitu menceritakan tentang hancurnya kisah cinta yang disebabkan oleh faktor ekonomi dan mempunyai alur cerita yang sama yaitu alur maju. Selain itu, dalam tiap novel di atas, hanya terdapat dua motif indeks yang sama yaitu motif magic dan motif captives and fugitives. Tetapi perbedaannya dalam novel Siti Nurbaya terdapat lebih banyak motif indeks yaitu motif magic, motif humor, motif tabu, motif the dead, motif captives and fugitives. Researchers want to examine the comparison of the structure of the story contained in the Baruang ka nu Ngarora novel by D.K. Ardiwinata and the Siti Nurbaya novel by Marah Rusli. The purpose of this study was to compare the structure and index motifs of the Baruang ka nu Ngarora novel and the Siti Nurbaya novel. Next, the researcher wants to examine the index motifs of these two novels. The method used by researchers in this study was descriptive analytical. In the process of processing and collecting data, researchers used a data card instrument. The object of this research is the Baruang ka nu Ngarora novel and the Siti Nurbaya novel. The results of this study explain that the Baruang ka nu Ngarora novel and the Siti Nurbaya novel have the same story theme, which tells about the destruction of a love story caused by economic factors and has the same storyline, namely the forward plot. In addition, in each of the novels above, there is only two index motif, namely the magic motif and captives and fugitives motif. But it has a difference, in the Siti Nurbaya novel there are more index motifs, namely magic motif, humor motif, tabu motif, the dead motifs, captives and fugitives motifs.
