Based on the results of the analysis, the BIPA teaching materials available at level 3, especially reading skills, do not yet have local wisdom regarding North Sumatra. This research produces reading electronic teaching materials through a self-directed learning model with local wisdom content of North Sumatra for BIPA 3 students. This research is Research and Development (R&D) research which refers to the ADDIE instructional development model. The stages in the ADDIE development procedure are Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation and Evaluation. Data collection techniques were carried out through documentation studies, questionnaires, and tests. In the early stages of the research, the researchers distributed questionnaires to BIPA students and teachers and conducted an analysis of available reading teaching materials to determine reading needs. Based on these profiles, the researcher designed a model design, initial product design, and material design for the development of teaching materials. Furthermore, the design model was developed into an electronic teaching material product in the form of a page-based electronic module which can be accessed via the Kacabipa.site link. This teaching material contains elements of self-directed learning which contains three learning units with planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation steps with local wisdom content of North Sumatra which can improve the reading ability of BIPA students 3. The teaching material products that have been prepared are then validated by experts. Furthermore, the participants' responses to teaching materials were given to 3 BIPA teachers and 7 BIPA students 3. The results of the responses of BIPA teachers and students to teaching materials each obtained a percentage of 91%. Based on the results of the validation and the responses of the participants, it can be seen that electronic teaching materials for reading through a self-directed learning model with local wisdom content of North Sumatra for BIPA 3 students are very feasible to apply. It is hoped that the results of this research can be used as a reference or BIPA learning material in various BIPA organizing institutions and independently.
