| Summary: | ABSTRACT ANALYSIS OF WORD SELECTION ERROR IN NARRATIVE TEXT OF CLASS III CIGABUS STATE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL AS AN ALTERNATIVE FOR MAKING LEARNING MEDIA IN ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS The background of this research is the choice of words in narrative texts made by elementary school age students. The purpose of this study was to determine the extent of word choice errors in student narrative texts, obtain predictions of areas prone to word selection errors in student narrative texts and produce learning media. appropriate for word selection errors in students' narrative texts. The approach used in this research is synchronous, for the research method the researcher uses a language error analysis method which in collecting data the researcher uses a technique, namely document analysis techniques. The data analysis technique uses modified results according to Tarigan, namely collecting data, identifying and classifying errors, ranking errors, explaining errors, predicting or predicting areas or linguistic items that are prone and correcting errors. The results of the analysis of mastery of words in narrative essays. The researcher found the findings data obtained from the results of the narrative essays made by the students. It can be concluded that the researcher found 308 word choice errors that made a sentence ambiguous or incorrect. The finding data consisted of 1 denotation error, 19 abstract word errors, 25 special word errors, foreign word errors, 5 borrowed word errors, and 253 standard word errors.
